Back to the 80s: Get thee to a DeLorean!!

Since so many on here are 'pairing off' into their own generational groups...and I cannot join any of them because I a member of the loathed GenX group, *I* am going to start a thread of my own, featuring MY website. JimRob, if this is not suitable for your site, I understand if you take it off, but I cannot help myself. The others are having just too much fun!

So, my fellow 80s children, what was your fav music/event/fashion/movie from the decade that featured the best darn President of the 20th century, Ronaldus Magnus????

You'll have to go to my website to see mine!! *wink* *wink*!! LOL

RED DAWN

That's a relief. It took so long for someone to mention the Ultimate Conservative '80s Movie that I was starting to think I had gotten cross-linked to Democratic Underground by mistake.

I agree with you. I like all the good 80s wave/goth music. New Order, the Smiths, the Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxise and the Banshees, Bauhaus, Gary Numan, Joy Division, and so on. By the way, remember 120 Minutes, which used to come on MTV?

Ya' know I forgot about Night Flights! I guess I hadn't killed those brain cells...just let 'em go dormant. Who could forget Safety Dance, Enya's Orinoco Flow, YES, the Police, Thompson Twins, Modern English, Psychedelic Furs, Fine Young Cannibals, the early days of 10,000 Maniacs, old R.E.M, Billy Bragg, the Pogues, I could go on and on...

That was a great decade...

Hey, although I'm a Brady Boomer, I wanted to take a peek at your thread.

Speaking of threads, I used to wear a stonewashed Guess? denim jacket, with whitewashed leather shoulder pads. Matching pants, too!

It's still in my closet, waiting for the right '80s party to break it out. If only I still had my white Don Johnson Capezios.

I used to tend bar at an after hours alternative club, called "One Step Beyond," in Santa Clara, CA.

While I worked there, I saw Fine Young Cannibals, The Beat Farmers, X, The Blasters, Gene Loves Jezebel, Chris Isaak, The Ramones, Iggy Pop, The Violent Femmes, Fiahbone, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sig Sig Sputnik, Feargull Sharkey and a bunch of others that escape me right now. The head security guy was Hillary Stench, formerly of Pearl Harbor and the Explosions.

Welcome to the House of Fun!

The 80's were so much fun. The Music. Here are my favorites. Van Halen with Sammy Hagar. RATT and the Scorpins. Foreigner. Def Leopard and George Strait.

Who can forget the dawn of cable TV with only 13 channels? I remember staying up late on Saturday nights to watch Night Tracks on TBS and Friday Night Videos on NBC after Late Night with David Letrerman. That show was great more that it is now and who could forget Johnny Carson.

Any of you have an Atari and a Commodore 64? I wish I would have kept mine to show my kids when they get older. And What about New Coke? I lived close to Mexico at that time so we would go across the bridge to get the Real thing. And that reminds me of old high school memories. The Drinking age was not an issue thanks to Mexico.

Most of all , who could forget Ronald Reagan? A man I always admirred the day he became President and I was 8. It was great to have a man like that in the White House and I am happy to see that my kids will see somebody like that now that GW Bush is President.

I keep wishing that the 9-5 beard will come back. I have that look naturally.

Oh man I wanted one of those and there was another one called Odessey that had a keyboard.
Do you rememeber when a VCR cost $400+ ? And that was for mediocore one. And when the first laser disc for TV came out? They were the size of record albums.
