Sorry Marine -- You're Too Old

The nerve of that Marine Corps recruiter telling me I'll too old to re-up!
I said,
"But I'm a 2nd Force Recon Scout Sniper that can still pic-a-tic off a gnat's ass @ 1K meters, in a snow storm! We lay-in-wait, and over the last 30 years I've had a lot of experience. Snipers only need to be able to "snoop & poop" and carry a 50 caliber. We don't have to do 50 squat thrusts before lights out, or hump 20 miles in full pack before sunrise! Put me up against your best 20 year old. It takes a lot to get a snipers heartrate up, 'cause we've been trained to "relax" if you want "one shot -- one kill", and I invented "relax". I'll die my hair to cover the gray, get lippo-suction and a face-lift, if you can push this paperwork through, Sergeant."
He didn't go for it. Should I lie about my age?

BUMP to the Chief.
I never knew you, since you left us 3 days before I signed up.
You left us, passionately wanting to go and do your part to make the world a safer place again for all of us.
I can think of no better way to go.
May your hopes for a better, safer world be fulfilled, and may you rest in peace.

This post just needed to be pinged IMO...... Thanx for the ping, Squantos. You're right, this did need to be pinged. I'm sorry I never had the opportunity to meet the CHIEF. I discovered FR too late. But I've heard him mentioned several times and this thread gave me a chance to learn a little more about him. Thanks again. :-)

Cheif:
Hey, I am only 78 (79 in June) and I will bet that I can hold up my end with any of them. Maybe not for as long, but I sure would die trying. I am still 5'10" and weigh 178 pounds. Still can get into my "BLUES" and am damn proud of it. I served my time in 1942-1946 and if I could I would serve 2003-2007 too.
The very best to you and yours.Good evening and the very best to you and yours.

Hey fella, from a 35 year old ex-squid...
One of my co-workers is in his sixties, ex-marine(Ret.) West Virginia farm boy. He's been diagnosed with colon cancer for 2 years and 2 weeks ago, he had a mild heart attack. He was in the hospital for a week and now, he's back at work.
All this time, he's been in a financial position to retire.
Another man, my neighbor, up to his passing a few years ago, could keep up with us young bucks on the framing crew without a problem. He was a WW2 Europe vet like my Grandad.
MY point is, you old timers are a very tough breed. I would have NO problem serving with any of you.

I second your bump to Texican.

I am just a kid of a boy, acutally I am only a 55 year old man in a 79 year old body. Ha Ha ha. I know that I could never keep up with these "kids" (MARINES) now but I would sure like to try for a week or so. Ha Ha I still have my American and CORPS flag flying in my front yard too. Of course the Corps flag is now off and the American flag is still at half mast. Tomorrow they both go back up to full height. River I always enjoy your replies, I don't see many posts, but sure enjoy your remarks.
Good evening and the very best to you and yours.

Well my friend, I have not retired, and I work from 8 to 10 hours each day five days a week. I am an electican and love my work. I cannot see myself ever retiring. I did once, stayed home three weeks, my wife of 58 years said "GET A JOB OR A DIVORCE" I got a job the following week. (had to much invested in her to get another one) I have been on this fourm for many years and plan to be here many more. I seldem if ever "post" but do make replies once in a while.
Good evening and the very best to you and yours.

The next part of this war may require guarding our schools and stores from insane murder cultists.
We will be ready to do our part when called for duty, right here in America.
