Sources tell TIME that U.S. officials suspect that bin Laden conspirators may have been planning to disperse biological or chemical agents from cropdusting planes

New York -- U.S. law enforcement officials have found a manual on the operation of cropdusting equipment while searching suspected terrorist hideouts, government sources tell TIME magazine in an issue out on Monday, Sept. 24th.
The discovery has added to concerns among government counterterrorism experts that the bin Laden conspirators may have been planning — or may still be planning —to disperse biological or chemical agents from a cropdusting plane normally used for agricultural purposes.
Among the belongings of suspected terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui, sources tell TIME, were manuals showing how to operate cropdusting equipment that could be used to spray fast-killing toxins into the air.
The discovery resulted in the grounding of all cropdusters nationwide on Sunday Sept. 16th. The dusters have been allowed back up, but are not allowed to take off or land from what traffic controllers refer to as Class B airspace, or the skies around major cities.
One senior official cautions that because corroborative evidence is lacking the FBI does not place "high credibility" in the notion that the hijackers were in fact exploring the idea of stealing or renting cropdusters. However, the FBI is advising members of a crop-dusters' group to report any suspicious buys of dangerous chemicals in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks.
Last week, the National Agricultural Aviation Association, a crop dusters trade group, posted a message from the FBI to its membership: "Members should be vigilant to any suspicious activity relative to the use, training in or acquisition of dangerous chemicals or airborne application of same including threats, unusual purchases, suspicious behavior by employees or customers, and unusual contacts with the public. Members should report any suspicious circumstances or information to local FBI offices."
Of course if someone had told you on Sept 10 a scenario that actually happened on Sept 11, you'd have written it off also. Everyone would have. If someone was talking like that one day before that Tuesday at work, we would have thought he had become a paranoid nutcase.

My company has four servers on the internet. Two are DNS servers, one is a web sever, and one is an email server. Last May 25 our servers were attacked by the Chinese. Each web site had a page that said common word for "fornicate the United States" It had a fake Chinese Email Address at the bottom. They wanted us to know they were Chinese They had tried to get control of my email servers but they failed. They did bury a worm on the main Web server. They had used the Microsoft IIS bug to get access. The worm was hidden and we did not find it at first. Two weeks later they did it again. We had installed all Microsoft Security fixes, Microsoft said they could not break in. But they did. We didn't know it but they had never been kicked out. The ms fixes locked the door but they were still inside.
I replaced the server and checked it over I found the program they had installed to continue hacking us. I wrote some trace code track the full extent of the hack. Our checks on May 25 took us to a computer in the Math department of the Univeristy of Wisconsin.
I let them continue to attack us. They did agains attack on June 15nd. It was traced to the Aeronautical University of Nanking China. I wrote and lanunched a counter attack, and they have not been back since July 2nd. There is no doubt that it was a chinese attack and sponsored by the chinese goverment. The Chinese do not like us. Mainland china is in transition. I am not sure if they will turn into our good friends or our worst nightmare. I urge extreme caution.
But the chinese are not a monolith. Many of the Chinese in the united states came from Taiwan. Many others came to Canada from Hong Kong. Many left Hong Kong for Canada when the mainland took over china. They tend to be socialists.
About 25 percent of the Vancouver population is Chinese. Crossing the border from Canada to the USA by car is a piece of cake. It is very open.
As I said the Chinese are not as monolithic as are Arabs. Blood is thicker than water. They have not been subjugated for much of their history. The Arabs have been conquered people for several thousand years. As a result the Arabs are filled with hate. The Chinese respect force. We need to throw our weight around. I suggest we throw Rosie O'Donnel as our first missile. Now that is real weight... Excuse me. I am a nasty individual that digresses.
People have organized into groups called races or nations for all of history. There have been wars and rumors of wars for all of recorded time. We as a nation have come to believe that Mr Rodgers neighborhood is the real world. We have a generation raised to think that we're the reason Sesame street is not reality. I have never seen any convincing proof that evolution applies to human nature. Even if you only accept the bible as history, then you will find in it the men and women next door and the people across the world. Humans in 2001 are not much different than in 1000 BC.
This is not Mr Rogers neighborhood. It is our soft spot surrounded by a desert that has no human kindness... only thirst. Every preditory nation thirsts for what we have. They would slit our throats and suck the blood out of our jugular veins to make their cheeks rosy. Nothing that I can see has changed in human nature for thosuands of years Such behavior has always existed. I suggest the bible are my source. Even athieists can believe it is historically true.
During and after world war II we fantasized about the resistance to the evil Germans. The Germans ususally killed 10 times as many of the resistors as the resistors killed Germans. If a German was knifed last night, then ten random villagers were killed this morning on the public square. The movies showed how the brave resistance fought back. But the truth is much different. It took only a hand full of Germans to manage millions of conquered Europeans. There were far more colaborater than resistors. Fear is safety.
The Germans under Hitler were bad guys. But the safety in if you kill one of me, and I will kill 10 of you is undisputeable. It always has been. It always will be. Human nature does not change.
We need to learn that nations are people. A nation is not a single leader. No nation can surive if its people want to overthrow it. Even in totalitarian nations people choose their leaders. Even in the Evil Empire, when the people wanted them gone they were gone.
Stalin did not lead Russia against its will anymore than Roosevelt did the USA. Surely the collapse ofthe Soviet Union proves it.
I have some posts on an other thead that says the goal is never the rule of law or the selection of the leaders or the document that founds a nation. The key is always the hearts and minds of the public. Freedom is only possessed by those that want it. It has nothing to do with words written on paper. If the public does not value freedom it is gone with the wind.
The Taliban have the hearts and minds of the Aghanistan people nearly was well as Bush hs ours. The Chinese leaders have the hearts and minds of the Chinese people as well as our leaders have ours. Failure to understand that and act accordingly results in the loss of a nation.
We are the worlds only superpower. The number of nations that hate us is unimportant. It is large and the longer we are the only superpower the longer the list will grow. The number of nations that fear us is of crutial importance. That list must contain every nation on earth. Only then will we be secure.
One final thought.
The sooner that our leadership arrives at this conclusion the safer I will feel. I can see the crop duster delivery method stirs the visceral emotions of FReepers everywhere but it is merely one way to get the job done. Dismantling the infrastructure of those who want to accomplish such deeds is the ONLY way to diminish the risk of such an act. Getting rid of the individuals who want to commit the attack is OK but they will have successors. GWB has articulated the correct approach and God give him, and the American people, the stamina and resolve to accomplish the mission.
For those that think their surplus masks will save them....think again. Most have expired filters, defective seals or are poorly designed.

However this is when they had warning of an attack -- we could easily detect that a Scud was coming in, and warn the Israelis. With a local attack, there may be no warning.
Buck up- America and freedom always win. These freaks are limited- they blew their load so to speak with these attacks. Now- they are done- we have arressted people our press does not even know about- they are undergoing "information extraction" (torture) right now. I would not be surprised if the families of these animals are dead already- or will be soon without our knowledge. End their genetic lines forever- that is what the Russians did when their diplomats were kidnapped after they invaded afghanistan. They killed the families- down to infants of every suspected terrorist or not. It didn't matter if they got the right people- the gruesome deaths of dozens of families made these Artab fucks surrender their Russian hostages. We should do the same.
