Scary stuff. Good luck getting a useful gas mask. Most suppliers are completely sold-out. Maybe those billions of our tax dollars slotted to bail-out the airline industry would have been better spent purchasing M95 NBC masks for the citizens of our country. The Israelis provide NBC masks for their citizens (probably with our aid money) so why don't we?
For those that think their surplus masks will save them....think again. Most have expired filters, defective seals or are poorly designed.
I recall what the Israelis were warned to do during the Gulf War when it was feared that Saddam would unleash a bio/chem Scud on them -- seal themselves into a room, breathe through wet towels, etc.
However this is when they had warning of an attack -- we could easily detect that a Scud was coming in, and warn the Israelis. With a local attack, there may be no warning.
