SPECIAL EDITION
Tonight, the citizens of the United States and people throughout the world saw a man with passion, principle, and resolve, lead a united effort in the war on terrorism. In a speech being hailed as one of the best modern era speeches ever given, President George W. Bush spoke to a joint session of Congress regarding the attack on America. The President outlined just who the war on terrorism is against, but also revealed specifics as to who they are and what they stand for. He also powerfully reiterated that the United States and countries united with us will not stand for actions like this any longer. In one of the strongest statements in his speech, the President said, 'Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists', surely a outward warning to those who are waivering in their decision to join us in this war.
After the President's 40+ minute speech, the standard opposition party response was also historic for it was not an opposing view, but a stand with each other as one united front of principle and resolve.
Enjoy this very special edition of the daily dose of Dubya!
BTW in one of the interviews after the speech....Schumer said that we ignored the bombing of the WTC in 1993 and 6 years later the terrorists returned and destroyed it. We cannot ignore the attacks but must destory them or they will do even greater acts of destruction in the future.
I believe Schumer finally sees the contrast between GWB's resolve to hunt down these monsters & Clinton's lack of leadership & negligence in pursuing the terrorists.
I'll take a medium and an extra large.
EXCELLENT thread tonight. I'm bookmarking it..... In the days ahead I will want to look back and remember this. Maybe we can also have a link to the transcript of the speech.
Cheers! CC :)
Truer words were ne'er spoken!! These words have not been said for too long a time...............
the President is a HUNK!!!!... (and I say that with total and absolute respect!!)
As my husband and I watched the speech tonight I said, "He has a wonderful face....a good face!" And my wonderful, insightful husband agreed with me!
This MASTERFUL & IMPECCABLE speech was the "verbal coda" of its death knell.
Bush has been called by DESTINY to lead the Nation & the World at this HOUR!
The speech: What can anyone say? I have listened to every president since FDR. I heard the first speech after Pearl Harbor and the famous phrase, "all we have to fear is fear itself". I lived through WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf and Berlin Wall, and watched the performance of each president. NEVER, have I ever been moved as I was tonight. My heart soared and my eyes teared. This man is so good it frightens me. I understand Laura's fear. The evil one will try to kill this good man. Pray with all your might for his and his family's protection. Pray for his wife and his daughters. Pray for our country. God bless us all.
Notice how the goalie is standing off to one side of his crease? During long interruptions in hockey games, goalies generally don't like to stand still in their crease because they don't want their skates to wear ruts in the ice that might interfere with their movement when play resumes. That's why you often see goalies doing a little skipping-type of routine, hopping from one foot to the other, during the national anthem.
Boucher is probably not very happy with Recchi -- Recchi is wearing ruts in the middle of the crease!
No
C-SPAN is replaying the President's speech RIGHT NOW!!!
Please email the White House and ask the President to declare that the first battle of this WAR was WON by the passengers of flight 93. A fitting tribute and the recognition these hero's deserve. I have already emailed the White House and mentioned this thread and rintense's hard work,
God bless you and the sacrafices your family made for this country...and thank you for taking this opportunity, this moment in history to post your first post...
Rintense...you see what you have started?
And I join you in your prayers for President Bush and his family and for our nation!
