Please help with finding info on how to create a pattern to protect the rescue dogs paws doing the work at the WTC
my old Grade school teacher has heard that the dogs doing the rescue work at thw WTC are finding that their paws are being cut by all the glass. is it possible for somebody out there to publish a pattern to help protect these dogs so that people like her can cut protective boots for these dogs and show their support for these people in at LEAST a minor way??? ALLL info would be GREATLY appreciated here!!!
For those of you that didn't get a post from Jeffer's this morning, here is a link to donate to the efforts in New York City to help provide the doggie booties and supplies that are needed for the rescue dogs to protect their feet in the rubble. click here
Jeffer's has given many goat breeders that $5 discount on orders through the cybergoat.com website links and the links on cybergoat.com sponsored list emails... I am personally donating *at least* the $5 discount I got, back to the efforts in the disaster to keep the dogs working...
The miracle this morning of finding live firefighters and having them walk away after being uncovered was enough to bring tears to my eyes... tears of joy and relief for these brave men mixed with the tears for those who haven't been found yet and the families who have lost loved ones.
On the website it states: One box of Doggie Boots costs $3.50
In looking at the links for doggie boots on Jeffer's, the retail price is above this amount so I am *assuming* Jeffer's is sending the boots at cost to the effort as well as other supplies needed to keep the dogs working. The highly trained dogs are playing a very important role in finding victoms of this disaster... let's help keep them working...
And I personally want to thank Jeffer's for taking the initiative on this.
Thanks, (Listowner, goat list)
I contacted the National Disaster Search Dog's Foundation directly and they do NOT need anything except money :) They travel with their own supplies and their own personal veterinarian and they really are okay at the moment. They do not need a repeat of the OKC situation where the city had to deal with mountains of stuff people donated in their eagerness to help.
They'd appreciate it if we'd put the word out to ignore the calls for booties and instead ask for $ donations to be sent or called into:
National Disaster Search Dog Foundation 323 E. Matilija #110-245 Ojai, CA 93023 1-888-646-1242 NDSDF
Even though they don't need "stuff" at the moment, we all know that training and supplying dogs to this level is expensive. Maybe donations we make now will save lives in future disasters.
