Sudan Persecution

"What we saw and heard and touched is the material for nightmares, a human hell," reported an American Episcopal priest returning from a January 1998 trip to Sudan.

The country of Sudan, already enduring seemingly endless civil war, is being devastated by a jihad led by the militant Islamic regime in Khartoum. Their tactics include aerial bombardment of citizens, scorched earth and destruction of livestock, forced displacement of over three million people, abduction, imprisonment, torture, execution of men, abduction and enslavement of women and children, and forced Islamization and conscription. The government justifies its reign of terror and Sudan persecution by claiming that it is a "divine mission" in the name of Allah.

By their own admission, militant Muslims see Sudan persecution as only the first step in an attempt to impose their brand of radical Islam all the way to the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.

Albania girl pays for her faith with her life

As she began studying God's Word last year, Zana Gjoni, a young Albanian girl, appealed to her Muslim friends and neighbors to commit their lives to God. She began a letter with Peter's words in Acts 3:19 - "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out...."

Zana was confident her own sins had been wiped clean when she accepted Christ as her Savior.

Zana eagerly learned more and more about Jesus, accepting Him as Lord and Savior of her life. Her once-dark life now shone brightly with God's love. But there were those around her who would not accept the change in her life, her love for the Lord. They threatened her - and on August 9, 2000, they raped and killed her.

Christians in Indonesia are fleeing for their lives as Muslim jihad warriors continue their latest plans to bring all Indonesia under Islamic "sharia" law. In Ambon, the terrorist group Laskar Jihad Ahluss Sunnah Wal Jamaah is now ready to pursue a Jihad mission in Poso, central Sulawesi. A banner on the web site of the Laskar Jihad (www.LaskarJihad.or.id) promotes violence and incites Muslims to join the ranks of the jihad to fight against the Christians in Poso, throughout Indonesia and beyond.

Islamic extremists try to justify their actions on the Koran: "Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful" (Sura 9:5).

Intolerance toward Christians has again been demonstrated in Saudi Arabia where 14 Christians have been detained in recent weeks and Afghanistan where more than 50 Christians (including Muslim accomplices) have been detained - for no other reason than they are Christians whose faith cannot be tolerated.

(July 25, 2001 Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) The government of Saudi Arabia appears to be launching a major sweep of Christians in the city of Jeddah. At 12:00 midnight Wednesday, July 25 five agents of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) once again raided another home of a Christian suspected of leading home meetings at which Christians gather for prayer and Bible study.

Eskinder Menghis, an Ethiopian working in Saudi Arabia, was awakened along with his wife and three children as MOI agents entered the family's home. The agents gathered up Bibles, books, family photos, video and audio tapes as they forced Eskinder to go to police headquarters for interrogation.

Eskinder's name was on a list containing several names and addresses of Christians living in Jeddah who were on a computer taken when MOI agents conducted a late night raid on the home of Prabhu Isaac a week ago today. He was subjected to psychological torture until the names of the Christian leaders of the home meetings were extracted from him. Prabhu is from India and has worked in a hospital in Jeddah for the past 17 years. He remains under arrest in the Farifia Prison. His wife has made a tearful appeal for help in getting her husband out of prison, but so far no government has been willing to intervene, including the United States.

Yep, a real "peace-loving" bunch, I'd say.

Now, where are the idiots here who are ascribing "moral equivalency" to Christians and Moslems? Such people sicken me.

"And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?"

Jesus NEVER said that. If "Allah" would say Jesus did, then Allah isn't Almighty God, because Almighty God never lies.

And they contributed...? Actually, most of the people in the regions that became Islamic had their heydays in their pre-Islamic times. The coming of Islam seems to have been a wet blanket on earthly achievement for these people. Seems to me it still is a barrier at the least.

Reality bites them in the behind again! You make a insightful observation. Calling the USA a "Christian Nation" raises the hackles of some, but I think that even the atheist/agnostic/antagonist could agree that our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. If one of our own claimed to terrorize in the name of God, we'd fry him. He'd answer to us, as well as the people he terrorized. Our actions prove our words.

So where's the accountability in all of the supposedly tolerant, peaceful Islamic nations, in which there is no separation of church and state - nations which are irrefutably Islamic nations? I can't remember ever hearing about a terrorist put on trial in an Islamic land.

Look, woman, I'm not talking about MY understanding of your stupid three-leafed clover! I'm talking about the MUSLIM INTERPRETATION OF IT! They interpret this as a worship of 3, and they are definitely aware that Jesus is interpreted as God, or part of God, or an aspect of God, or however you want to put it, and that is what they object to! Deal with it!

Jesus NEVER said that.

Does Jesus say to worship him or doesn't he? In the book of John? Hm? I know he doesn't say to worship Mary, Catholics came up with that on their own. But he does say that he is the son, no one comes to the father but through the son, to worship the son is to worship the father, all that. I mean, that's the WHOLE POINT of Christianity, isn't it??

Powerful post, brother. I've traveled to Pakistan and sat at the feet of the Christians there. They face death every day from their Muslim neighbors, yet they continue to trust God and move forward. Inspiring.

Yes, but the part you quoted also says he said to worship his mother. THAT's what he never said.

Jesus declared he was/is God and didn't reject being worshipped by his disciples, so you're correct on that score.

We have judges posting one of the versions of the Ten Commandments regardless of the feelings of others
You're really going to compare this to flying an airliner into an office building, or Christians in Afghanistan imprisoned for sharing their faith? I'm embarrassed for you.

we have alleged ministers appearing on TV saying "God does not hear the prayers of a Jew"
I'm not sure who you're referring to, but I'm a minister, and I think that's nuts. When MOST of us are saying that, you'll have a point. Consider this observation by Ron Williams, ex-Secret Service, "Dr. Siddiqi was at the National Cathedral at president's prayer when on October 28, 2000, he was outside the White House with 5,000 demonstrators sponsored by Hizbollah and Hamas, shouting "Kaibar Kaibar, oh Jew: Mohammed's army's coming after you, Death to the Jew, Death to America."

we have the likes of Ann Coulter writing in a column how we should "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity"
We SHOULD invade those countries, and we SHOULD kill their leaders, because they are the monsters behind murdering savages around the globe. The Christian faith, unlike Islam, is not one that can be forced on another, since it requires a very personal faith relationship with Christ. It wouldn't be a bad idea to try to convert them, though. Why? Because "christians" who commit atrocities do so in defiance of the Bible, while muslims do so in radical obedience to the koran. As Christians, they'll be a LOT less likely to blow up embassies, office buildings, or pizzarias.

and we call them intolerant?
Yes.

I appreciate what you say, surfer, but we're trying to keep this thread directed on what the Koran teaches. We've gotten off topic defending Christianity, but I'm doing my best to keep it on track.

You are either lying about having read the koran, or about it's contents. Maybe both.

No, that isn't true. Chapter 5 makes it very clear in several places that hell is for unbelievers... and Jews and Christians are unbelievers. If they convert, okay, but other wise, "sizzle."

Three different translations provided:

002.062 YUSUFALI: Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

PICKTHAL: Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right - surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

SHAKIR: Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the f Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.

Comments?

It certainly doesn't seem to resemble the peaceloving book pro-Islamics have been saying it is.

Moslems do not appreciate having non-Moslems quote the Koran to them, especially when it appears to criticize something Moslems are doing (such as the Iranian hostage taking in 1979). Well, I suppose that's pretty much standard in all religions. And, of course, nearly all of us have to rely on translations of the Koran, some of them done by people whose grasp or candor about the intricacies of Islam might be a question mark. And, on top of that, there are other sources of Islamic religious teaching besides the Koran.

So I suggest: Listen to what the authentic Arabic religious leaders of Islam say that Islam teaches. For example, the PLO's Mufti of Jerusalem says, repeatedly, that the Koran lays down as a religious duty that every Moslem must try to kill any Jew or American anywhere and of any condition. The Iranian Ayatollahs teach that the Koran teaches pretty much the same thing. And you hear the same from the Imams of Iraq and the Sheiks of Syria.

Now, who's word are you going to take about what the Koran teaches? Those Arabic sages who have studied it many many years in the original language and with all the historic commentaries, or some homogenized Readers Digest-type English simplification?

The problem with that assertation is the Bible and Koran say entirely two different things about Jesus. Which one is right?

I'd like to see those. Not verses that called for a one-time war on the Amalekites, Jebusites, etc. Let's see the verses that call on Christians to "smite the necks" of "those who disbelieve" (47.4), or "urge the believers to war" (8.65), or my favorite koran "tolerance" verse, "fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah" (8.39)

You said you could do it, go ahead. Let's see the Bible's call to war. Let me get you started:

Ephesians 6:11-12
11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

I thought only children changed the subject when they are in trouble.
