"Fight and slay the pagans [i.e. infidels]

A professor talking to Brit Hume today defined "infidels" as those that do not believe in the "book" (IE:bible) or the Koran.

Good points. And in the here and now, perhaps the apologists for islam can answer me this:

I have a question. Lots of posters say that there are "good" moslems. That islam is not a violent religion, and does not condone terrorism.

We know that moslems can declare a "Fatwa". Bin Laden and Arafat have promulgated and used terror, and killed innocent men, women, and children. If in fact their religion rejects such acts, when will a fatwa be declared against these vermin? Surely, their actions besmirch Islam to a far greater extent than did the novelist Salman Rushdie - who was rewarded with a death sentence in a fatwa.

Unless, of course, all of Islam doesn't really object to murderous terrorists....

Some passags seem to say if the non-Islamic person won't accept the teachings, kill them.

The point I'm making by posting this thread is that some have defending Islam, saying that Islam doesn't teach terrorism. After reading these passages, I think they're wrong. Islam does teach terrorism.

Show me from the Koran where I'm wrong.

So it is it okay to slay those who don't believe in the Bible? That makes it more acceptable???

Right, but Christians are considered to believe in three gods, the Trinity is three. It says so right there in the Koran. You can believe Jesus was a prophet, but if you deify him as a god, you have become an "unbeliever". It's all in Chapter 5.

"Islam promises hell to non-Muslims"

I'm okay with that because Christianity promises the same to those who do not accept Jesus before their end.

We'll find out who's right.

The point is not whether the terrorists were strict adherents to Islam, but whether Islam treaches that terrorism is justified. After reading the passages from the link, I think it does.

Can someone prove me wrong from the Koran?

"You are wrong, sir (or ma'am.) The Koran teaches tolerence of all Religions. "

No, you are wrong. Mohamed in the beginning taught kindness to the people of the book(Jews and Christians) only and death to the other religions. Later when the Jews had rejected him he taught that Jews and Christians must be conquered and be put to death if they did not become a muslim. Please read your koran. The words are there and there have been some posting of them so far today on other links.

Allah's a real peice of work.
He's a devil-god, so what does that say about the people who worship him?

I really don't care to here from people who would say I'm being intolerant or blaspemous. They can all go suck sand.

I do not see Christians strapping bombs on themselves going to a heavly populated area of muslims and blowing them up!!! If suicide weren't such a sin to a Christian I wonder what muslims would feel like if we began such a campaign against them.

hmmmmmmmm . . . I have read the Koran cover to cover (have you?) There is nothing but respect for Jews and Christians from Mohammed.Anything done after the Koran was written is not the fault of the Koran.

A religion is one thing, the culture it spawns may be quite another. Islam may be world-class as religions go, but the culture it has spawned is nothing much and promises to be less yet.

Maybe you should read what you wrote again. I posted a link to actual passages from the Koran that advocate killing those who refuse to accept the teachings of the book. You called my statements ignorant. That seems pretty intolerant. Why isn't it?

But really, show me from the Koran where I'm wrong. Are you saying the Koran doesn't really say what these passage seem to say? Explain please.
