See also From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters about the origin of the Arab-Israeli conflict over Palestine. People who think that Israelis are Jews who just happened to zip down to Palestine from Europe after WW II are hopelessly out of touch with the history of the region. The history of Islam is the history of institutionalized xenophobia and intolerance, especially of the Jew and of those who are the Jew's friend. Muhammad didn't take kindly to getting dissed by the Jews who refused to convert way back there in the 7th century. His antagonism towards them was written into the "religion" from the beginning.

Not subjugation.. Submission to the will of God. ...AS TOLD BY MUHAMMED... it says that very clearly in several places. And Muhammed specifically FORBIDS people to consider Jesus to be the son of god. FORBIDS IT!
And all those quotes you posted following that seem so benevolent are for the most part strictures about how to act TOWARD OTHER MUSLIMS, not toward everybody. They are told not even to be FRIENDS with Jews and Christians.

"If you believe in the Trinity, you don't believe in ONE GOD"
And thus you just demostrated your and Mohamed's total misunderstanding of Christianity!!!! Islam yells there is only one God, Christians just look at you and think yes I know. You need to study Christianity!! Mohamed never understood what we believe and thus mischaracterizes us and our beliefs in the koran. But we are suppose to believe this book is from God?? If he did not even know what we believe how in the world did he think he could teach us?? A little study might be helpfull!!

THis is nice now post those verses that call for my death as a Christian.

"Like the Jewish and Christan faiths, Suicide is against God in the Koran too." I don't see Pastors, Priest, or Rabbis sending out suicide missions against you. You will know them by their deeds. :)
That is the key point to me. I don't care about all the "bad stuff" in the Old Testament. The bottom line is that we don't have a significant number of Christians acting on any "kill all the unbelievers" messages (which I still haven't seen identified, BTW) in the Old Testament. There is no United Methodist Jihad in the year 2001.
On the other hand, Islam seems to have an inordinate percentage of nut cases acting on this stuff. It doesn't tend to make me very accepting of Islamic religious culture, in the way I am accepting/tolerant of, say, Judaism or Hinduism.

Lady Heron's right; you're off topic now. Please explain how those passages don't really call for killing those who refuse to believe the teachings of the Koran.
To: Lady Heron
I remember reading James Michener's "The Source" while in school and the section on the spread of Islam showed how effective the Islamic tactic was in beheading a few conquered pagans, then the survivors would fall on their knees and accept conversion.

"Have you allowed all the women to live?" he asked them. "They were the ones who followed Balaam's advice and were the means of turning the Israelites away from the LORD in what happened at Peor, so that a plague struck the LORD's people. Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man." - Numbers 31:14-18
Kill all the men, kill the women, kill the boys, save the virgins for yourself. Sounds like the Bible is pretty tough on the enemies of Israel.

The Koran instructs Muslims to be kind to the Christians. Where? Quote it and cite it, please.
To: Lady Heron
Sweetheart, I have studied Christianity. I'm telling you what the Muslims believe. And they aren't mistaken about one thing: Jesus said he was the son of God. It's in John, right? Where he says "No one comes to the Father but through me" and how he will be given the power to judge all souls? Sound familiar?
Well, the Koran says, in chapter 5 "The Table" (verses 116, 117)
"And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.
"Never said I to them aught except what Thou didst command me to say, to wit, 'worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord'; and I was a witness over them whilst I dwelt amongst them; when Thou didst take me up Thou wast the Watcher over them, and Thou art a witness to all things."
So the point is, Jesus says to worship him, and the Koran forbids worshiping him. The Bible says to believe he rose again and the Koran specifically says (also in Chapter 5) that he was never crucified and did not rise again and to believe it is wrong. Whether you want to say "well, the Trinity are three, but they are one. Three, but one, see?" The fact is, as far as Jesus' powers go, the Bible says one thing and the Koran says another. And my POINT is, on this basis, Muslims can justify killing Christians.

Mohammed is believed to be the messenger to bring the Arabs back to monothesism from Idolatry. Jesus is believed to be a prophet, the pure one, the healer, the innocent one_ born of the blessed virgin Myriam. Judiasm doesn't accept Jesus as the son of God.Right on all points.
Maybe you should ask a Muslim about it.
Ask a Muslim about what?
To: Big Guy and Rusty 99
Well, in the long run neither one of these groups has created a culture that amounted to much in the history of the world, whereas both the Catholics and the Calvinists have put some impressive numbers up on the board, as have, for that matter, most Christian denominations.
To: Samaritan
The Koran instructs Muslims to be kind to the Christians. The Koran says very clearly "As for the Jews and the Christians, do not be friends with them, they are friends to each other. 5:51"
And the caps mean I'm talking louder. Bold means louder still. I'd have to change fonts for real yelling.
To: Big Guy and Rusty 99
The problems with your rant:
1. He quoted the koran, not some wacko sect
2. Experience proves him right. The Islamic nations are infamous in their intolerance toward other religions. Christians and Jews are not even allowed a prayer on the temple mount, lest we desecrate their holy site. Name a few intolerant tyrannical regimes in the world today. How many that come to mind are Islamic?
3. You are the one who lacks the research. Knowing someone who is a friendly muslim is hardly research. You cannot have read the koran and take the stand you're taking.

Well, in the long run neither one of these groups has created a culture that amounted to much in the history of the world,Whoa... wrong there. Islam was quite the snazzy culture after the breakup of the Roman Empire. They had their day.

You seem to have overlooked Numbers 25. God killed 24,000 Israelites first, then commanded Moses to kill the Midianites for the whoring that had gone on. The virgin were not guilty in this, so they were allowed to live. Why doesn't this make sense to you?
To: Samaritan
Bzzzt. Wrong. Maybe someone told you that, but it wasn't the koran. Remember, they call them "fundamentalists" for a reason. They are the ones who go by the book.

Like I said you have no understanding of the Trinity. Granted a hard concept to grasp. But believe it or not Christians believe in ONE GOD! Do a little study and try to figure that one out. Maybe ask a Christian minister to help you figure it out. Come back when you understand and we will talk.
