The cover for the upcoming CD from a popular hip-hop group portrays an eerily familiar sight.

Against a backdrop of morning skies, the towers of the World Trade Center stand engulfed in flame from the impact of twin explosions. Clouds of smoke spew from the upper stories, all but obscuring the tip of what was once the epicenter of the New York City skyline.

Riley said the cover design, completed in June, was "supposed to be a metaphor for the capitalist state being destroyed through the music."

Maybe they ought to pick a new name for the group while they're at it. My choice would be: "Brain-Dead Morons."

In light of Tuesday's tragedy -- and a barrage of e-mails and phone calls regarding the image -- the label is now in the process of choosing a new album cover.

They should look for a new country, not new album cover.

Pretty strange coincidence, isn't it?

Remember that there are a lot of "Black Muslims" in this country. Just a thought.

The FBI might want to check into this, when they get some free time.

From www.williamcooper.com:

Somebody knew what was coming! This album cover was posted to the internet on July 19, 2001! It depicts the World Trade Center in the exact state we all saw it in after the attacks yesterday. The band, The Coup (a sudden overthrow of a government by a usually small group of persons in positions of authority), displays the Red Communist Star representing Socialism on the cover. (site now removed)

Not a bad idea.

Is this a joke? Jesus, this is what passes for "music" these days. My middle finger has more talent then these "artists." Thanks to the computer revolution and welfare, any moron has the time and money to be a "musician."

What a bunch of trash. Even if the attacks had not occurred, that cover is inappropriate. What else do you expect from a bunch of hip-hoppers.

"Riley said the cover design, completed in June, was "supposed to be a metaphor for the capitalist state being destroyed through the music." It should not be interpreted as a call to violence, particularly in light of Tuesday's tragedy, he said."

Isn't is just amazing how folks such as Riley try to have it both ways.

One the one had, he wants to have a very violent image (one in which an office building full of people -- capitalist people -- is being violently destroyed) to be some sort of sick metaphor.

And then he has the nerve to try to say that "it should not be interpreted as a call to violence".

Just how stupid does he think we are?

Perhaps now the "artistic elite" in this country will understand that images can and do have effects.

I have a feeling that there's no longer going to be very much tolerance for this crap. Imagine someone taking this position against the 'establishment' during WWII.

It's not that the 'establishment', the direction and methods of the core political movement and power elite in this country have not drawn attention and criticism, much of it probably warranted. And it's not that any of us don't have the right to express criticism. It's just that IMHO, it looks like it's too late for criticism. Good or bad, we're all in the same boat, and by every idication, it looks like a vessel of true war.

So those of us who have long been patriotic to the core thread of this Constitutional Republic simply have no choice in the matter. Circumstantial implications suggest that we either band together and support our institutions, our government, and our heritage, however badly many of us believe the idea of the founders has been distorted, or we may die.

So I imagine that the glory will soon dissappear from the disrespectful anti-cultural trends that support the notion that this kind of violent, socially disruptive 'music', represent some sort of political opposition to 'capitalism', or any other aspect of our core traditions. If it gets as bad as it portends, members of musical groups like this one might simply dissappear mysteriously during the night, with the resources of the system just too taxed to ever figure out what happened to them.

Arnold Swartzenegger is changing/delaying his new movie as well.
Same for Sony's "Siderman", they pulled their trailer from theaters.

Well, these "fine upstanding citizens" seem to be pretty quick to take advantage of our capitalist society when it comes to making a few bucks.

This is too prophetic to be coincidence, particularly the original release date. Even the floors that took a hit seem to be identical.

Would it be too much trouble to tar and feather these "artists" before we run them out of the country? I hope the FBI makes them do a little "explaining".

The "Fight Club" has the main character blowing up buildings.

I saw it Sunday and couldn't stand it. I watched it at someone else's house just to see what type of garbage was passing for entertainment these days.

I wished I'd walked out on it. The buildings were suppose to be empty and the leader was suppose to be crazy but it still was a very disgusting movie.

Plausible enough.

After all, the system hasn't been able to find any trace of Chandra Levy, and its resources are stretched considerably thinner now...

Funk said The Coup, known for lyrics with an edgy, anti-establishment bent, chose the original cover for its powerful imagery.

Why do you suppose the terrorists chose to attack the WTC twin towers? For the powerful imagery.

We have enemies, foreign and domestic.
