It's been about 24 hours since the attacks against the Pentagon and the World Trade Towers. There has been a lot of news reporting, some of it accurate, and some of it wildly speculative.
But there is one item conspicuously absent from the news reportage.
There has not been a single report that any armed hijacker was arrested on the way TO an airplane yesterday morning.
Think about that.
We are being told that four teams of at least three armed hijackers each got past all the security at three modern airports, and not one of them was detected.
A 100% success rate? For terrorists operating in a strange country far from any support? That is a bit hard to accept.
Reports that did escape from the aircraft following the hijacking reported that the hijackers succeeded in wresting control of the aircraft using only knives, possibly as small as ordinary supermarket carton cutters. So, along with a 100% sucess rate at getting past all that security, add to that miracle the fact that all four hijacking teams managed to select aircraft that did not have a sky marshall on them (which according to a recent Discovery Channel Wings program are still being used on flights).
100% success evading modern airport security. 100% success rate choosing flights without sky marshalls. Pretty damned hard to do for a group of terrorists.
But far easier for a nation-state with the intelligence resources of a nation-state to pull off.
Listen up Fred25 or whoever you really are. This is not a time to be starting a war on FR. Somehow or another you managed to trick or beg your way back onto this website, and managed to con some people into thinking you're some type of decent individual. I know better.
That being said, why don't you lay off your little JIHAD against me for stating my concerns over issues which you disagree with, such as what happened with TWA800.
So now why don't you lay off and show some respect for our Country.

Federal Air Marshal (FAM) Program
The FAM program provides an anti-hijacking capability for U.S. civil
aviation. The program provides a covert, armed security force capable of
conducting anti-hijacking operations and of deploying rapidly. FAMs are
specially trained Special Agents who travel on U.S. air carriers along
routes and into areas where worldwide terrorist activities indicate the
highest probability of hijacking. FAMs are authorized to carry firearms and,
if they reasonably believe a person has or is committing a felony, they can
make arrests without warrant for any offense against the U.S.
The FAM program serves as a deterrent to hijacking and other forms of
terrorist activity aboard inflight aircraft. It is authorized by the Federal
Aviation Act of 1958, the Anti-Hijacking Act of 1947, and the International
Security and Development Cooperation Act of 1985. Order 1650.6,
Federal Air Marshal Program, governs the FAM program.
Whatever innuendo is being spread on this thread is NOT BEING BOUGHT by the good people of FreeRepublic. We're wise to this nonsense.
It is quite plausible that whoever planned the WTC plane-bombings (be it Bin Laden or whomever) had plenty of people working in airports in different positions and at different levels of authority. The fact is, we know very little, but what we do know is that this is consistent with Bin Laden, and we have no GOOD reason do doubt what is being reported.
I think threads and innuendo like this one are merely the seeds that anti-goverment conspiracy types get going so that later they can weave these conspiracies into quasi-credible-sounding junk later on.

The material Michael just posted about anti-terrorism doesn't really substantiate much about the Sky Marshall program, does it. But he did find a link, so that must be proof that he's right...

Again, Michael Rivero's tactic is innuendo, not direct assertion. He's "clever" that way. Too clever by half, I say.

My thesis which you call "whackjob" and B.S. is that these attacks were too large and well planned to have been the work of a terrorist group and required the resources of a nation-state.

Bull again. This was actually a very simple op - the only complication being getting the four pilots trained on a Boeing simulator, not a big deal at that. Fake Id is easy to acquire. Fly to Canada, drive to Florida, research the flights on Travelocity (even gives the type of plane!), choose 4 Boeing 757/767 trans-continental flights so there will be lots of fuel on board, book tickets on same, drive four cars to the airports, get on planes past the joke security we have, and presto, HIJACK!
The experts don't want to admit how simple this was. No one wants to face the fact that this could have easily been averted by armed marshalls or an armed pilot. No one wants to call for guns on planes, but this same hijack can happen again until then. No hijacker will be deterred because he has to lug his bags inside instead of checking them at the curb. The response of the FAA has been a sorry joke.

You didn't read what I wrote. They acheived 100% success rate getting past airport security and 100% success rate knowing which planes were not going to have sky marshalls.Ha ha ha ...Yeah, they may have SEEMED 100% successful -
- using something just less than paring knives I might add.
Where little Michael attempts to denigrate US security efforts, against a truly dedicated foe there is little short of strip searches of all passengers at the gate and tight physical security past that point that could have prevented what ocurred.
Now, an armed captain and co-pilot and the acceptance of a little loss of life on behalf of saving the plane and the balance of the passengers - would have worked ...
But little Michael, sewing his brand of discontent needs a strawman - and is working MIGHTILY to build one up - but for what purpose?
