I've often wondered what I would do in such a situation. I mean, knowing that I was going to die anyway, would I have the guts to try and do something rather than sit by and wait for my death on someone else's terms. No matter how much a person believes he would "do something," no one can answer that question unless they actually face such a moment of truth. I believe that I would, but you just don't know with absolute certainty. I do know that I would not be able to live with myself should I somehow survive after great devestation occurred that I could have prevented. Everyone on this thread should try to think, really think about what it must have been like. These people were brave beyond belief, and are the true definition of the word "heroes." God bless them.

The fact that he stopped to call his wife, one last time, to tell her he loved her, should probably put him over the top.

It was a very tender, touching, and triumphant-over-death-and-terror thing to do.

It broke my heart to hear the firefighters speaking messages to their wives on the live radio broadcast yesterday from the scene at the WTC. They were letting their wives know, through tears, that they made it out alive. Such love. How wonderful.

We should go to armed guards on all flights, or at least arm the cockpit and firearms train the pilot and copilot. Then a hijacker would KNOW he has something to deal with

This sounds like Martial Law, which I hope we never see in America again. Guns on planes doesn't make a lot of sense either, does it? Even the terrorists yesterday were not willing to risk downing the planes before they reached their targets. I don't know what the answer is, HiTech, but I don't think it's armed guards. LOLuv.

Permit me to intrude a moment on this hysterical breast beating with a rational thought or two... Bombing other countries and generally terrorising them is what has made the USA a target. Bleating about how "America is the greatest country in the world" may be a consolation to you, and I hope it is, but it will do nothing toward solving the problem. If you slogan chanters don't oppose the NWO madness of US-led bullying of the world, you will find that there is a reason that America is, in reality, the most HATED nation in the world. It is a horrible pity that your terrorist enemies think the same way you do, and believe that they have the right to attack innocent noncombatants. I disagree; with them and with you. How right you are. The recent terrorist attacks were bad enough. To add insult to injury, all of Bin Laden's kindred spirits (only on the flip side of the coin) are now coming out of the woodwork in America. I used to think that just the US government were corrupt and the citizens were just dancing in their ignorant Disneyland bliss. It's pretty scarey to see how many Americans are now behaving as if they could actually be one of Bin Laden's long lost cousins.

IMO, the terororist hijackings yesterday may not or could not have taken place if honest, law abiding people were allowed to carry their concealed weapons on to the planes. Our leftwing, liberty stifling laws have created a very dangerous "gun free" zone on the air lines. Terrorist know they are safe to carry out their hideous plans without resistance from the unarmed Americans on these planes.

It's not armed marshalls on the planes that we need..it's a far more elaborate security system on the ground for screening passengers and baggage, and protecting the airplanes while on the ground...and this would cause incredible delays. Can you imagine having to check in 6 hours before a flight, or deliver your baggage the day before, or have your laptop taken apart...that's what would be required......as a people, after a few weeks, we wouldn't stand for it....

This is what I suspected and I am proud to know that some americans have some FIGHT left in them!! If the bad guys knew that americans would fight back their goals would be immeasurably harder to accomplish.
