It's not armed marshalls on the planes that we need..it's a far more elaborate security system on the ground for screening passengers and baggage, and protecting the airplanes while on the ground...and this would cause incredible delays. Can you imagine having to check in 6 hours before a flight, or deliver your baggage the day before, or have your laptop taken apart...that's what would be required......as a people, after a few weeks, we wouldn't stand for it....

What about a simple lock on the cockpit door? The plane's cockpit and pilots must be secure regardless of what happens in the passenger compartment. My understanding was that when the stewardesses were being killed, a pilot opened the door to find out what was going on. That's when the terrorists took control.
