Peter Jennings Criticises President Bush's Leadership During this Crisis
Posted on 09/11/2001 10:19:29 AM PDT by IWONDR
Anyone been listening to Peter Jennings on ABC?
He is criticising President Bush saying it's been two hours since he spoke from Florida; that the President needs to demonstrate more vigorous leadership during this crisis. With the largest attack against the U.S. (internal to our borders) in history, how can this talking head suggest that the President needs to be making PR appearances, when he needs to be conferring with top security officials within the government and elsewhere in order to ascertain whom was responsible, and to coordinate and develop an appropriate response?
I think we need somehow to let Peter Jennings and ABC know that we cannot accept this ridiculous criticism of Pres. Bush when the nation is in the midst of this crisis. PR, would of course, be the first response from our former Prez, and Peter would be lauding ex42 regardless of what he had done, if this had occurred on his watch.

My own contribution to ABC news
---------------
Fire Peter Jennings,
After hearing the most vile little political sniping by Jennings at the current administration, I am convinced (more than ever) that Jennings is an incompetent fool. I grown used to Jenning's usual inane political punditry but tell Jennings that now is not the time.
Perhaps jenning should spend less time behind a blow dryer and more time thinking of balanced reporting.
By the way, if you are wondering why ABC's ratings are lackluster....think "Peter Jennings" and his ilk. Bias is one thing -- stupidity is another.

It was what they had on here in the conference room, where all those trapped in Manhattan (and TV-less, like me) were watching. That's my excuse.

Suck it, Jennings. Gore would have been puking and crapping his pants at the same time.

I am outraged by the horrible preformance by Peter Jennings during this terrible tragedy. It seems like he is gloating and eager to take jabs at our President. I understand some people's frustration with Bush, I didnt even vote for him, but he is our country's leader and I think ABC has a lot to answer for in having such a heckler and Anti-American presenting news of this terrorist attack. I am also sending this email to all my friends. Fox gets better every day.

E-mail sent to ABC. Also emailed conservative journalists to make them aware of this unbelievable political pandering, as well as that of Russert.

Thank you find your kind words. We owe Canada (except Jennings) thanks today. Transportation Sec. Minneta (sp?) was just on C-Span saying how helpful you guys were today, offering safe passage and landing for hundreds of our diverted airplanes, helping with security - intercepting and boarding a suspicious plane headed towards Alaska. Prayers for peace and justice.

Yet another Jennings jerk-moment: About 2:40 central time, ABC was about to switch to some of Bush's staff for a statement, and as he transitioned to them Jennings snottily said (from memory, may not be verbatim, but it's damned close): "Oh, now we'll get to hear from the political arm..."
Needless to say, Bush's people spoke only of critical tragedy-related items, no politics or spin at all.
Jennings must go NOW.

Let's see...Peter Jennings, a good American...uups...not an American...says that an attack on America (time of National disaster) upps....he's not an American!!! Is all the fault of the President of the United States....but he's not an American, Peter Jennings, that is...but he's on National TV. Well, who's fault is that? High School drop out??? How in the Hell did he ever get to that position?? Somebody just didn't care!
Keep shucking Pete, you'll be a memory in a heartbeat. We're fighting for the country now, and it ain't your country. Go home, and never, NEVER, come back. That's the best advise I have!
You'd better run, you socialist canuk SOB before somebody kicks you ass from here, to "hell won't have it".

I have tried to send this whole thread to ABC/Jennings. Beyond my ability this evening. Could someone do it. This thread will give them a good flavor of our collective opinions on Jennings.

...and Peter is at it again today, disrespecting the President, slamming Israel and being a basic ass. He is saying the the US should withdrawl its support for Israel and that this is all the fault of Israel.

Contact your local ABC affiliates on this. They seem a little more receptive to the local, public opinion.

Today Jennings said that Bush is responding to pressure from the public and from congress to take action.
What a crock. Jennings is using this tragedy to get in one dig after another. I for one, AM NOT pressuring Bush to do anything. If I were, Bush wouldn't respond to my pressure anyway. GWB seems very properly motivated by his own sensiblilties which works very well for me.
To: UnChained
Jennings just keeps getting worse tonight! He is still insinuating that President Bush was running and hiding yesterday, and Bob Plant on CBS basically said the same thing...we need to keep this thread going and keep those emails going to ABC and the sponsors. There are tens of thousands of innocent people dead, and these clymers are still having their little snit fits because their buddy Gore wasn't able to steal the presidency.

Thank you for saying it, coteblanche.
As a Canadian, since last Tuesday I have been picking up a decidedly hostile attitude toward us on Free Republic.
Yanks:
Peter Jennings was hired by ABC in 1964.
At that time he was 26 years old.
That was 37 years ago.
How long does it take before we are lumbered with this schmuck being called a Canadian?
I suspect that if he still has a Canadian passport it is only because he finds it convenient to do so.
As Canadians are so easily mistaken for Yanks in most of the rest of the world, Canadian passports have gotten people out of jambs in countries hostile to the US.
A few years ago Canadian passports were very useful for getting American diplomatic personnel extracted from a decidedly hostile Iran.
If Jennings has lasted thirty seven years as a public broadcaster on United States television, blame that on the Yanks, not us.
If you don't like his attitudes, and I definitely don't, it is only Yanks, not Canadians, who can do anything about it.
