The military has just gone to their highest state of readiness which is only used when we have been attacked and war declared on us. I just called my local hospital about giving blood. The hospital administrator is arrangeing for a mobile blood bank but she said that both my husband and I are too old to give blood. Do any of you know of any other way we may help? I just feel so helpless and frustrated. I want to do something now. This is the same feeling I had when Pearl Harbor was attacked but then I was too young to contribute.

I agree to a point. I already heard on NPR (national propoganda radio) a call to curtail civil liberties in the name of fighting terrorists. My fear is that this tragic event will lead us in the direction of more government control and less fredom, rather then looking at the root cause of terrorism.

IMO, Terrorism can only be prevented in a free country by being a neutral country (get out of the UN, NATO, WTO, etc.), engaging the world through peacefull trade, with a strong national defense. The only other way is to not have a free country.

I grieve for those poor innocents on the hijacked planes and those in the downed buildings. Our country will unite, I am sure, against those who attacked our nation. This IS an act of war. As a child, I remember the Pearl Harbor attack, but this one is even more immediate because of the instant news available.

I pushed the abuse button on a poster who was spewing anti-Bush garbage despite pleas from other freepers to stow it. This is a time for ALL to unite against the enemies of OUR country.

There will always be those 2% that have no loyalties whatsoever and they will always be outcasts wherever & whoever they are, but the rest will stick together in a way the rest of the world will be shocked to see!

I saw one sickening thread from Demidog about his concerns about HIS personal freedoms. I did all I could NOT to post to that thread.

This is a time our country must come together, no matter what political affiliation, no matter what factors have divided us in the past. We need to pray for those who have died in this attack, pray for those who have been injured in this attack, and to pray for our nation.

We are at war. We will find who did this to us, and whomever did this, no matter where they are, no matter who they are, they will pay, and pay dearly.

Demidog was concerned about everyone's personal freedoms, including yours. If the Feds have been encroaching on our freedoms, what makes you think they will stop once everybody "pulls together" behind them?

I can't talk for Demidog, but all I'm saying is to give govt action the same scrutiny you would have given it yesterday - they haven't changed overnight.

I have searched for an hour to find out where the usual ATRW folks are. DON'T GO AWAY! Skipping around takes forever.

That said, I am devastated, irate, fuming, and crying all at the same time. I have tried to remain calm through most of my life but this is just too much. I have watched my country crumble during the past years. I am at the point where I just want whoever is responsible to pay the ultimate price. Not just the individuals, but the countries involved. THEY have done nothing and allowed this to happen. I have no mercy for whatever happens to them and I hope it is complete devastation. May God forgive me for my thoughts.
