LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: President Bush's trip to Florida to focus on education issues is being overshadowed by worries about the economy. Concerned about the vanishing surplus, Democrats say the administration may have to curtail spending and its tax cuts, or it may end up taking money from Social Security. Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott says that won't be necessary. Lott calls for a new tax reduction.

What should the government do? Well since the government takes about 56% of my pay through direct, indirect and outright hidden taxes, it would be a very good idea if they cut taxes say about 46%. If 10% is good enough for God, it is good enough for the government.

What Should the Government Do About the Economy?

The first thing that comes to mind is, nothing.

Upon reflection, however, I think abolishing the long term capital gains tax would be a good start. Might not help the economy but it would make everybody's stock worth more.
