Five New Democrat State Trifectas: Assisted Suicide, Here We Come
National Review ^ | November 5, 2026 | Wesley Smith

Posted on 11/06/2026 12:15:14 AM PST by Morgana

The national elections, just completed, added five states that will be completely controlled by Democrats next year, i.e., legislature and governor. They are, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Every one of these is ripe for legalizing assisted suicide, as that policy is now part of the liberal/progressive issue agenda. Most have already seen serious efforts to legalize doctor-prescribed death — even when Republicans held some power. Indeed, the electorally late (defeated for reelection) Governor Joe Lombardo of Nevada vetoed a legalization bill a few years ago.

Other states that are already governed by a so-called Democratic trifecta, but which have not yet legalized assisted suicide, are Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Efforts have been made to legalize assisted suicide in all of these as well, with Massachusetts voters rejecting assisted suicide in 2012 — thanks in large part to the opposition by Ted Kennedy’s widow.

I think all of these states will see renewed legalization attempts in the next two years. At least a few will pass. That’s not a sure thing, of course. Indeed, last year I was pleasantly surprised when Virginia Democrats defeated a bill in committee. But Governor Spanberger supports legalization, so I am sure they will try again.

The primary hope of preventing legalization in blue trifecta states rests with the disability rights community, which is part of the liberal/progressive coalition, but sees — correctly, in my view — assisted suicide as targeting them. Civil rights activists, legislators of color, and more traditional Democrats also often oppose assisted suicide. Pro-lifers and medical associations have a part to play, too. It takes a strange bedfellow coalition to defeat these bills in Democrat-controlled states, so we’ll see how it goes.

The other Democratic trifecta states have already legalized assisted suicide. But that is never the end of it. The first laws passed are not meant to be ceilings but launching pads. So, expect bills in at least some of these states to be filed loosening eligibility or otherwise allowing more sick people to get dead faster.

Because there can never be enough assisted suicide.

Arizona is about to fall as well. Since it the states that determine how votes are done this scares me the most. The RATs have turned their states into ones where they can’t lose.After Virginia fell the laws there were changed to make it permanent RAT rule. Texas is the worst news of all. Without Texas Republicans can’t win the White House.

It always starts as voluntary but ends in as your duty to die.

Seems to be a sloppy article, MI did not flip blue in this election as it already was.

Get this, from 2018 that I posted here a few times:

~~~
Detroit is just one city that gets all the bad publicity, more than often it is deserved - however in the meantime look at the political bigger picture of the state:
MI has a republican President of the United States.
MI has a republican, conservative Supreme Court.
MI has a republican Governor.
MI has a republican Lieutenant Governor.
MI has a republican State Senate.
MI has a republican House of Representatives.
MI has a republican Attorney General.
MI has a republican Secretary of State.
MI has a republican congressional margin by a 2:1 ratio.
There is NO state democrat that is elected statewide. NONE.
No blue wall here even tough the MSM would leave a low information voter to believe otherwise.
~~~

MI flipped from basically solid red (exception senator) to solid blue four years ago, there were no surprises on Tuesday in this state.

The do-nothing RINOs/GOPe behind the scenes and the MSM are mostly behind this it appears. Notice the last four years has nothing but bashing Trump rather going after the failed GOPe. This will be their mantra going forward as they went for the titular head rather than a political party just like the commies do often.

The problem here IMO is the complete failure of the Republican party who can't hide under the umbrella of RINOism any longer. These maggot sellouts still managed to raise the national debt a couple $-TRILLION, they are antiquated and useless as a political party.

We can't have a third party to mix things up, why is this? Easy, we need a second party initially and we don't have one.

.... Not to mention the Democrats now have enough votes to Make the Electoral College Obsolete using The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) ....

....Good Times Ahead ...

I want it to go up ASAP and watch how the naysayers react. I don’t think Trump should have his name on it just yet because if the assh*les tear it down then it’d be more of a reflection on them.
