The New York Times came in for online mockery Tuesday after a list it published of Jewish voters saying they would back Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed for Senate included the unfortunate moniker “Jack Mehoff.”
The Times initially reported Sept. 17 on the letter, which it said was signed by “more than 500 people who identify as Jewish leaders or voters” in the Mitten State and insisted that El-Sayed is “clearly the better choice for Jews.”
*** Records reviewed by The Post lists someone named Jack Mehoff as living on campus at Michigan State University in East Lansing. The university did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Eagle-eyed Washington Free Beacon reporter Jon Levine spotted the eyebrow-raising moniker on the morning of Election Day.
“The New York Times will openly and without shame publish a list of ‘Jews for Abdul,’ which includes the name ‘Jack Mehoff’ and then completely ignore that this fatally compromises the whole story and just power through it,” Levine wrote on X.
Some big names included on the list are all too real, with Democratic Michigan Attorney General nominee Eli Savit and the father-and-son duo of former congressmen Sander and Andy Levin among them.
However, hundreds of signers gave only a first name and last initial, suggesting minimal effort to vet them.
The clergy who signed the letter have also had their credentials called into question.
One, Rabbi Chava Bahle, made history in 2014 as the first rabbi to lead a Unitarian Universalist church.
Another, Rabbi Alana Alpert, leads a Reconstructionist congregation whose adherents insist Judaism is defined by culture and social values rather than traditions or rituals such as keeping kosher.***

Probably also had Craven Moorehead.
Reminds me of the prank phone calls we used to make his kids.
Ahhhh! 12 year old boy humor strikes again!

Just goes to show how dumb the Times has become to not catch this.

"Hey guys. Has anyone here seen Mike Hunt?"
Let’s all calm down now.
An Irish friend of mine, Sonny O’Bitch, assures me that Jack Mehoff is a real person.
Ha haaaaaas! Seymour Butz. Ben Dover. Dick Palmer.
I hear Ben Beetenhoff voted a straight Democrat ticket.
I’ll have to find the SNL video of Robert de Niro thanking college students for their patriotism in reporting many terrorist suspects to Homeland Security. 5 minutes of innuendo names.
Not to forget Mike’s British sister Berkeley.
*There may or may not have been intoxicants involved in the creation of that name.
Bright College Days by Tom Lehrer:🎶
Soon we'll be out amid the cold world's strife
Soon we'll be sliding down the razor blade of life
But as we go our sordid separate ways
We shall ne'er forget thee
Thou golden college days
Hearts full of youth
Hearts full of truth
Six parts gin to one part vermouth
Little Johnny strikes again!! lmao....
Bravo!!...
Alinsky’s rule #5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that those people who work at the Times probably - as kids and teens - did not read Mad magazine, then National Lampoon, nor did they play these pranks as teens. Therefore, they cannot recognize the names when it is put in front of them. Just a guess.
Is he friends with Biggus Dickus?
National Lampoon did run the memorable Underwear For The Deaf. It may have been a recurring feature.
