NYC Comptroller Sounds Alarm After 30,000 Private-Sector Jobs Left the City in Just Two Months

New York City's socialist experiment is going great. So great, in fact, that the city's comptroller, Mark Levine, is sounding the alarm after 30,000 private-sector jobs left the city in just two months. Levine calls the trend "concerning."

Here's more:

Private-sector employment dropped by 23,000 in September after losing 7,400 jobs in August — with gigs in finance and tourism leading the private sector in declines, according to a new report by City Comptroller Mark Levine’s office.

“Despite a relatively strong tourism season, Leisure & Hospitality employment fell 7,700 in September alone and is down 17,000 jobs over the past year,” Levine wrote, calling the figures “concerning” across the board.

The finance sector, one of the state’s biggest tax revenue drivers, shrank by nearly 6,000 positions in September.

Business owners said the grim figures are more than just numbers, detailing how rising costs have forced them to close up shop, leaving New Yorkers without jobs.

“The costs just were so high,” said Sam Musovic, owner of Upper East Side cocktail bar Sojourn Social, who closed another business on West 72nd Street late last year, laying off about 100 workers.

Turns out socialism is very, very expensive.

Socialism is “great” until you run out of other people’s money.

FTA-—Turns out socialism is very, very expensive. Business owners said the grim job loss
figures detail that rising costs have forced them to close up shop, leaving NY’ers without jobs.

“ Socialism is “great” until you run out of other people’s money.”

Quite true. Unless of course, you are one of the “other people” providing the money.

good.

New York City is a welfare city. It produces nothing.

It lives off skimmings from Wall Street’s printed-fiat-debt trading, state aid, and a lot of Federal transfers

Over generations, that has produced an entitled mentality and an increasingly aggressive marxist political and bureaucratic class

The rest of America is sick of their bullshit. Time to cut them off.

Not coincidentally, Y’all Street started trading back in July.

How could losing private sector jobs be a problem when it just creates opportunities for more bureaucrats?

The movie “Escape from New York City” was just a warning sent the poor ignorant NYC libs from the future. And, of course, since they are very ignorant, they have not listened. Eff them and the slime they live in.

The only thing that will save NYC is if the Democrats take full control of Congress and stuff every spending bill with urban bailouts at US taxpayer expense. Eventually a weakened, media savaged Trump will have to sign some sort of spending bill and it will be loaded with urban subsidies.

He doesnt. People voted for socialism, it would be embarrassing for capitalism to bail them out.

That is how socialism around the world has survived since its been in existence. Capitalism has bailed it out. The “socialists/communists” have had to implement andkeep some parts of capitalism in order to continue world trade for things they need, plus many places have relied heavily on capitalist human aid relief in massive quantities. Throughout their histories, multiple, many times a year in certain cases.

The productive people will leave. NY will be left with nothing but those with their hand out. I read a book about that very thing.

Mark Levine? I’m sure Mandami will dismiss this as a Jewish conspiracy.

“media savaged Trump will have to sign some sort of spending bill and it will be loaded with urban subsidies.”

Nope, not going to happen. The rats will need a veto proof majority and that is not going to happen either.

What are they complaining about? Reducing private sector jobs is one of the end goals of socialism.

Are socialists complaining about a lack of evil capitalist money? That sounds awfully capitalist of them to be fixated on money and private sector jobs.
