On the day Vivek Ramaswamy made official his run for Ohio Governor, President Donald Trump did not dally. “He will be a GREAT Governor of Ohio, will never let you down, and has my COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT!” the President wrote on Truth Social on Feb. 24 of last year, within hours of Ramaswamy kicking off his campaign.
Trump’s post essentially cleared what had been expected to be a crowded GOP field, boxing out the likes of state Attorney General Dave Yost, state Treasurer Robert Sprague, and Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel in a state where Republicans felt dominant. It also effectively gave Ramaswamy almost two years to focus on keeping the Governor’s mansion in GOP hands.
But the very connections to Trumpism that fueled Ramaswamy’s fast political rise are now giving his party reason to worry, as polls show him trailing Democrat Amy Acton, a former state health chief and a first-time candidate.
“Something is happening here. I just can’t tell you what,” says one Ohio Democratic strategist, reflecting the apprehension pervasive in both parties right now.
On the campaign trail, Ramaswamy occasionally moderates his image as the brash MAGA warrior railing against “the woke left,” pitching tax cuts and economic development when he’s with suburban crowds and chamber of commerce types. But he can still come off at times as a pugilistic troll. He has promised to be "the most conservative Governor in Ohio's history,” defying Ohio’s history of moderate conservatives who have governed the Heartland homebase. He has embraced AI data centers in a state where they are far from popular. And he has not shrunk from Trumpian hardline immigration policies, especially when he appears with Trump.

Have they considered running a candidate with a name I can pronounce?
Here’s someone who will be tough on H1bs.
Still head and shoulders above that skank, Amy Acton...
Have they considered running a candidate that isn’t a grifter?
Anyone shaking his hand would be wise to count their fingers afterward.
A full throat-ed H1-B visa booster vs an mass immigration supporter isn’t much of a choice ...
He is pretty unlikable
Vivek is the Dr. Oz of this election cycle, sadly. That said, Amy Acton is no John Fetterman. Vivek may pull this out because Acton is so unbelievably awful.
It is a hard sell for the millions destroyed financially by Indians citizens taking their jobs. And the trying to explain this to their families when nobody knows it is happening.
Ohio can't afford Vivek Ramaswamy's scams.
Ramaswamy built his fortune on ventures that enriched him while leaving investors holding losses, then moved his own company out of Ohio before running to lead it.
This race kind of bothers me.
Somebody unlocked the barn doors to stormfront about 15 years ago and I’d rather they be herded back in and the gates locked.... so I hate - and I see it a lot - some of the crap tossed at Ramaswamy that has nothing to do with policy positions.
However, he’s made some mistakes in framing his words. It’s funny, because I’ve joked on occasion that I’d never run for office because I’d get 2% because my platform would be stop whining. Work. I’m not running to be your mommy OR your daddy. I’m running to ensure individual liberty and both lower your taxes and make sure the ones you pay already aren’t wasted.
In a way? I feel like Vivek has said things I read that way - but make voters cry. But, - *sigh* - I could have told him “Nobody wants to hear that... except me. And you don’t need my vote.” I don’t live in Ohio so I guess my opinion doesn’t matter, especially for governor. But I do hope he can pull it out.
It’s the season to vote a straight red ticket but Ramaswammy is a seat I wish we had a better candidate for.
A ton, the Ohio Fauci.
The Indian anchor baby is killing the entire GOP ticket in
Ohio to Blue.
Trumps disastrous pick said the following :
Vivek Ramaswamy stated that American tech companies frequently hire foreign-born and first-generation engineers over native-born Americans because U.S. culture has “venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long”.
Key Points of the Comments
• Cultural Critique: In a December 2024 post on X (formerly Twitter), Ramaswamy argued that American culture prioritizes high school jocks, prom queens, and mainstream media archetypes (such as characters from 1990s sitcoms like Boy Meets World and Saved by the Bell) over academic and STEM achievers like math champions and valedictorians.
• H-1B Visas and Talent: He defended tech companies that rely on the H-1B visa program to recruit global talent, asserting that a culture focused on conformity rather than extreme hard work fails to produce enough top-tier engineers. He simultaneously criticized the current H-1B lottery system as a form of “indentured servitude” and called for replacing it with a merit-based admission model.
Another Brillant Trump Primary pick.
I wish our GOP primaries went back to clueless President free
endorsements.
I dont trust Time magazine. Their reporting is biased.
The Forehead doesnt have a chance... In order for a foreign looking politician to make it in America, they have to be half way decent looking like the arabs and indians in movies today. Ramaswamy’s forehead almost looks bulbus... I suggest wearing a hat all the time. He might have a chance...
He is a colonizer and just wants to import more of his own people to take over America.
I would not ever vote for Ramaswamy, EVER. He is all about himself and India.
Of course he is. He is a Democrat grifter and scam artist who bizarrely was able to fool MAGA and even Trump into backing him. But he has been totally exposed since then. People would rather have a Democrat douchebag for 4 years than a fake Republican who stabs them in the back and opens Ohio’s floodgates to Indian H1-Bs.
Well it’s either Ranswami or Biden in a skirt. The girl ain’t right in the head.
