Trump threatens to cut off Ukraine’s weapon supplies

Donald Trump has threatened to halt weapons supplies to Ukraine unless Kyiv ends its long-range strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.

The White House made it clear to European officials over the weekend that a scheme allowing Ukraine's allies to buy US arms and give them to Kyiv could be suspended.

Mr Trump is said to be angry at Volodymyr Zelensky's continued strikes on Russian oil refineries, and according to officials in Europe, the US administration has also threatened to withhold intelligence from Ukraine.

I suppose Trump could allow Iran to export oil at least until the mid-terms.

He probably won’t, because we’re at war with them.

Our response to this whole war is starting to take on a LBJ, Robert MacNamara vibe.

“I suppose Trump could allow Iran to export oil at least until the mid-terms.”

unnecessary ... the problem isn’t with raw petroleum supply but refined fuels, and the russkies refine 50% of the world’s supply of diesel ... namely because the USA has been closing massive refineries for decades and hasn’t built a new major refinery since 1977

President Trump needs to issue an emergency order partnering with a major oil company to build and operate a brand new major oil refinery on a military base near petroleum supplies as a national security measure!

US weapons are increasingly unimportant, apart from Patriots.

HIMARS and Excalibur are hampered by Russian GPS jamming. Javelins have become less important as drones have taken over anti-armor. The F16s supplied by Western Europe are hampered by a lack of in depot maintenance which was supposed to be supplied by the Europeans. The meager supply of US artillery fires the same 155mm shells supplied by Europe and has largely been supplanted by European artillery.

There are repots the US has given some prototype US weaponry to Ukraine to test. Not sure about the status of that, and if that is cut off, that hurts us as well.

Meanwhile, Putin pays for his war using petroleum exports. Loss of US equipment will hurt, but not nearly as much as allowing Putin to regain money from oil sales.

People here also forget that the Europeans can also respond by cancelling a couple hundred billion in orders for US military equipment, and if they want to be really nasty, can dump T-Bills when Bessent tries to sell more bonds.

I've been puzzled as to why Trump is once again siding with Putin, including according to some reports, promising the release of Russian funds frozen by Europe, which I seriously doubt would take place. The diesel deal is too small to really affect US prices. They only thing I can think of is that he is asking for Putin to cut off Iran, in which case he is selling out Ukraine to cover his inability to bring the Iran War to a successful conclusion.

The Russia diesel deal didn't make any sense to me until Z-Man responded by blowing up Russia's diesel plants.

Trump set him up, and now is calling for Ukraine elections and Z-Man's removal.

You may have the best idea. Refining oil needs to be, at least, supported by the Department of War. There must be some counter to the threats of the 'Rats to bring back the Green Energy Scam, any time they seize power.

I would recommend breaking up the State of California and using what would have its Capital in San Diego.

We should never have sent a single asset, dollar, or bit of intelligence there in the first place.

The fact that the Obama administration had corrupt tentacles through all aspects off the Ukrainian government and deep state should have been a clue.
