Young voters are financially drowning — and the life raft the Democratic Socialists of America is throwing them is an anchor in disguise.
If Americans don’t see past this facade, they’ll be sinking even faster.

Young voters are right that the system is failing them.
They’re wrong, though, about which system it is.
What they’ve experienced isn’t free-market capitalism at all — it’s a quasi-socialist economy that’s let government displace the market in precisely the spending categories that have become least affordable.
Turning further toward socialism means embracing the anchor that’s already weighing them down.
Just look at where their pain is already concentrated: education, housing and health care.
These are among the most regulated, subsidized and government-directed sectors of the American economy, and therefore the least like capitalism.
It’s no coincidence they’re also the least affordable.

The Republicans might want to step up and offer some kid of solution (less taxes, less regulation, whatever). But the GOP won’t take any action on anything.
Meanwhile, the DSA is running around saying “We can solve all the problems” and they pretty much win with young voters right there. It’s not a real solution, of course. But politics is about winning elections. And DSA can win by promising to help. It’s more than the GOP is doing.
Every objection to what i call Mercantilism or individual ownership of property is because it has been encroached and infected by marxism. Very few people even know what real private property is really like.
Republicans sit on their asses pretending it’s still a center-right country after 50 years of leftist domination of education, media, and pop culture and wonder how this could have happened.
We have been a fascist society a long time.
I’ve come to the conclusion that fascism is the necessary step to get to communism.
Nd that is what “progressivism” really is.
Progressives developed this term long, long, LONG ago. They were socialists who liked the Marx idea but knew it wouldn’t be easy to get a good society with revolution. Hence “Progressive”, meaning GRADUAL, but it is a nice double-entendre word that also means “advanced”.
To be progressive, they have to GRADUALLY change things, which they have. And ans always, it means simply putting more rules on everything. Letting people “own” stuff but telling them what they can do with it. That’s fascism. Meanwhile they’ve added more welfare garbage that is direct socialism which leads to communism once all ownership is removed.
No they don't.
They might think they hate it, might even pretend to hate it, but they're as addicted to the materialism and the opulence as the rest of us.
The crux of the biscuit is they're willfully ignorant of the consequences of divesting themselves and their lives of capitalism. But they don't need wait on regime change to be shut of capitalism, they can go right this minute and become a subsistence farmer and live in a Ted Kaczynski tarpaper shack with no modern conveniences. There's nothing standing between them and that ambition but air and opportunity.
But you don't see many of them in a rush to make the move, do you?

Guess what? Your parents have spoiled you with all kinds of luxuries and you think you should be able to afford them right out of high school or college. Hard time stories are character builders. Having two jobs wasn’t fun, but it afforded me a way to get out of debt and begin saving.
We have lived well for a long time so a depression would truly do them in vs. build character and skills for living.

They aren’t likely to be interested in “free market capitalism.” They may not have experience of it, but it doesn’t stir much positive feeling in them.
The problem is that they don’t know what socialism is really like. For them, capitalism is having to work for a boss and pay bills and they think socialism will end that.

The little tik tok idiots are being told that they don’t like capitalism. They don’t know what any alternative is, what it would mean to them, and why capitalism isn’t working for them.

This is why we never should have let the Snowflake azho generation go to college and then pickup the tab for it. Gen Zs are no smarter than chimpanzees. Sure there are many mostly young people who really don’t give serious consideration as to who or what they are voting for. Allowing someone(s) to commandeer election results doesn’t help either. It’s best when you can vote in person on election day, but realize that occasionally that is either very inconvenient or maybe even impossible. Just do the best you can to vote responsibly.
