Trump out-traded all members of Congress combined - report

U.S. President Donald Trump and his wealth managers executed nearly 28.7K security transactions in the 17 months following his second inauguration—outpacing all members of Congress combined—even as he pushes legislation banning lawmakers from buying stocks, according to a media report Tuesday.

During that same period, Capitol Hill lawmakers collectively reported about 22.2K similar transactions, Bloomberg reported, citing security transaction disclosure forms.

The contrast marks a notable shift from his first term, when Trump's financial disclosures contained mostly illiquid real estate holdings and other privately held ventures. His portfolio now spans thousands of holdings in stocks (SPY) (DIA) (QQQ), bonds (TLT) (SHY) and cryptocurrencies (IBIT) (ETHA).

The stock-purchasing ban passed by House Republicans in July exclusively restricts members of Congress, their spouses and dependent children. The legislation leaves the presidency untouched—even though the commander-in-chief has singularly wide-ranging access to U.S. intelligence and the power to influence entire sectors with an executive order or social media post.

Backing the proposed House measure, Trump had stated in his recent State of the Union address that it must be enacted "without delay" so that members of Congress "cannot corruptly profit from using insider information." He remains the only U.S. president this century to disclose active trading of individual stocks, continuing transactions that would be prohibited for lawmakers under the very legislation he champions.

In June alone, Trump made more than 1K securities trades, including significant purchases of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B), Visa (V), Mastercard (MA), Palantir (PLTR) and Cintas (CTAS), financial disclosure published by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. The largest transaction was a June 22 sale of between $5M and $25M of shares in the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation Index Fund ETF (VIG).

I watch B.O. report this last night and I was shocked at the shear amount of trades.

Aren’t all of his assets controlled by a blind trust?

Our President does not take a salary and his great sacrifice of $400k a year is a massive gift to the taxpayer. That’s almost a penny for every taxpayer and that adds up to real money over eight years in office.

They are, but never let the facts get in the way of a good hyperbolic rant.

At the scale he is operating at right now, 400K is a rounding error.

He scammed people out of a billion dollars with his crypto scam right before he went into the White House.

He doesn’t need to take a salary.

Trump’s assets are in a trust.

The trust is managed by Don Jr and Eric Trump.
