In a surprise move representing the increasing estrangement between him and his party, Democratic Sen. John Fetterman made a pre-recorded video appearance at the GOP national midterm convention in Dallas on Wednesday night.
The video, first reported on by Axios, endorsed both his Republican Pennsylvania counterpart in the upper chamber and President Donald Trump’s economic agenda.
“Yes, I’m Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania,” he said in the short clip, recorded in front of a steel plant in his home state.
It was being sent to, he joked, “a big room of Republicans in Dallas.”
“Yes, I’m a Democrat. Why am I here talking to you today?” he continued.
“Because, well, I’m a common-sense Democrat. I’m always going to stand with America. I’m always going to reject the extremes and socialism and the anti-American way of life,” he said.
The video introduced his Pennsylvania colleague, Republican Sen. Dave McCormick, who, Fetterman said, is “the kind of senator that gets the job done.”
“I’m proud to count him as my friend,” he continued. “Right back over my shoulder, that’s the iconic U.S. Steel mill.
“And that’s exactly the kind of thing that we’ll work together, and we’ll work with President Trump, to fight and defend the steel way of life right here in the Steel Valley,” he added, referring to the area of Western Pennsylvania associated with manufacturing jobs and steel production.

I’m not....whenever i argue with liberals i remind them- the person in their party with the most sense is a stroke victim....
McCormick isn’t running again until 2030.
Democrats are probably more surprised!
I wish the Fetterman brand of Democrat would pick up steam instead of the DSA model. Sure, they would not always vote with us, but at least they would speak like civilized human beings with (mostly) common sense and not with rabid hate and not be hell-bent on destroying the country. Unfortunately, though, Fetterman remains an outlier in his own Party.
I was thinking about stroke “victim” too. Apparently Fetterman’s shook his brain down to the Smart-Logical area.
Other Dims should have one induced.

I have to admit, with Fetterman and his wardrobe, I judged a book by its cover. He’s much better than I ever thought he would be.
Since we had no idea what he was like before his stroke, we had nothing to compare him to.........

I have a friend who had a brain injury from an accident, though not a stroke. Almost lost his life. He was a very quiet reserved person before his injury. Now? He is a friendly person. He was always kind, but he didn’t talk much. Now he is more on the gregarious side. Brain injuries sometimes release people to be who they always wanted to be. Maybe Fetterman is the same. He likes who he is now, more than his old self. Like my friend.
This may be a key event, which causes Democrats to primary him in 2028.

My parents knew a happily married couple and the husband had an automobile accident. It changed him. He started chasing women. 8t didn’t matter he had a beautiful woman at home that was always nice. They divorced and he played the field. After a while he realized these women meant nothing to him, they were just after any money he had. He begged his former wife back but she refused. He died a miserable lonely old man in a wheelchair.
