Krakatau, the infamous volcano, just produced its largest explosive eruption since 1883. And this caused the cancellation of hundreds of flights, generated a massive eruption plume, and caused ash to fall across a wide area.
Yet, how large is this eruption, and why might it have occurred? Today's video will attempt to answer these questions through the knowledge & analysis of a geologist.

The 1969 movie “Krakatoa: East of Java” is free on Youtube.
Good movie starring Maximilian Schell, Diane Baker, and Brian Keith about the 1883 eruption and tsunamis that killed about 36,000. Movie title is wrong as Krakatoa is west of Java.
