China warned that it would “take all necessary measures” and retaliate against the US if any of its companies are included in the Trump administration’s new secondary sanctions targeting Iran.
Companies based in Hong Kong and mainland China were among the entities targeted by the US after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced “Operation Economic Outcast” on Monday to further isolate Iran.
The US, however, stopped short of listing large Chinese financial institutions, with Beijing — Iran’s largest oil buyer — warning that it will do whatever it takes to protect its economic interests.

“China has made clear on many occasions its firm opposition to illicit unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law or the authorization of the UN Security Council,” he added.
China stands as Iran’s biggest trading partner, and while its state-owned refiners largely abide by the western sanctions on Tehran’s crude, Beijing allows its private sectors to do business as they will. Lin maintained that China’s business with Iran will continue uninterrupted ***
*** Bessent defended the expanding US sanctions as “the single greatest financial offensive ever” against Iran that would lead to the collapse of the current regime.
When asked by reporters if Chinese banks would be hit by the new penalties, Bessent insisted that “no one is above the reach of US sanctions.”
***Iran, meanwhile, has warned that America’s economic war against Tehran will result in retaliatory attacks not only on military targets in the region, but also on financial institutions.
“All of America’s economic targets and its partners around the world, and especially in the region, are considered military targets of the enemy and are targetable!” Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industries head Majidreza Hariri wrote on X.

Oh please. What are they going to do, release some virus?
Oh, wait.
Venezuela, Iran, Canada, Cuba...China is just realizing this is all about them.
What are they going to do? Deploy all that cheap Chinese crap that Maduro and Khameini relied on?
China’s energy costs have leaped by something like $20 billion since Trump started targeting China.
Good one
HAHAHAHA
China will stop selling us junk as retaliation?
Once a war starts, nobody knows which direction it will head next.
They’ll probably starch the boxer shorts.
Hmmmm……I think the military planes flying on the west coast are patrolling.
And the Doomsday planes?
Somethin’s up.
This is what the Carnival Banker’s issue with the US. Trump wanted products passing through Canada, that originated in China, to be labelled so they wouldnt be imported into America.
It has nothing to do with bilingualism.
"[China will] retaliate by any means necessary"
That's one pretty darned low bar China is bandying about shouldn't we say?
And that after China has been caught red handed in multiple ways altering our elections, which is the equivalent of using a weapon of mass destruction vis-à-vis international law!
The proverbial innocent kid on the playground has been knocked down several times [by the Chinese] and retribution has been waiting in his favor for quite some time now.
We're lucky PDJT has been cultivating friendship with Chairman, President and General Secretary Xi Jinping for years.
If China doesn’t want to be affected, then the shouldn’t support the IRGC. Not very complicated.
“China warned that it would “take all necessary measures”
Assholes. What exactly do they mean by this?
The Islamocommie party is in cahoots with them.
I suppose they’ll attack with drones and robots before the next election.
I’m shooting any drones near my place and so are others living outside the commie areas of Oregon.
Shouldn’t be hard to take out a frickin’ robot either. LOL!
