A Reston woman was found fatally stabbed in a parking lot near trails in the Great Falls area Monday morning (Aug. 17), Fairfax County police say.
Officers responded at around 7 a.m. to the 8800 block of Georgetown Pike after a community member in the area for a morning run reported seeing a woman “lying unconscious outside her vehicle,” according to Fairfax County Police Department Capt. Jason Chandler, commander of the public affairs bureau.
“When officers arrived, they noticed she had trauma to her upper body,” Chandler said. “She was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The FCPD initially publicized the incident as a death investigation, but by 10:30 a.m., detectives determined that the woman’s death was a homicide, Chandler confirmed in a media briefing.
Georgetown Pike was closed in both directions at Old Dominion Drive for the investigation.
According to an update released on Tuesday, Aug. 18, the woman has been identified as 42-year-old Carmen Lizet Puch. She was found near a 2011 Honda Civic sedan registered under her name in the parking lot for Difficult Run Park, which includes trails connecting it to the popular Great Falls Park.
The FCPD has described the killing as a fatal stabbing, but an autopsy still needs to be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to officially determine the victim’s “cause and manner of death,” a press release says.
Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances of the stabbing, including why the woman was at the park and whether she had arrived with anyone else or come to the park alone.
“There’s no immediate indication that this was a random act,” Chandler said. “We’re just asking the community, if they saw anything around 7 o’clock, to please reach out to us.
Detectives are canvassing the surrounding area to locate surveillance cameras, and Chandler urged anyone with information that could potentially help with the investigation to contact the FCPD’s Major Crimes Bureau at 1-866-411-TIPS.

A suspect has been arrested and charged. He is Alexis Antonio Cedillos‑Campos, 19, from El Salvador, and also accused of multiple murders in connection with the case.
“U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials said he was arrested by Customs and Border Protection in April 2024 after allegedly crossing the U.S.–Mexico border near El Paso, Texas, and was later released back into the country.”

I’d be surprised if the infamous Commonwealth’s Attorney in Fairfax County, Steve Descano, hadn’t inappropriately released this guy before. Or released him from custody on these charges. Add this victim to the Biden illegal-alien-caused death toll.

I was about to post that this story was out of date b/c the Illegal Alien murderer is already in custody. The police press conference said the victim (42) worked with the murderer (19) and they were in some sort of ‘relationship.’
We will have to see if this was a two-way relationship or a one-way obsession by the perp.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in the killing of a woman found stabbed near a trail in the Great Falls area early Monday, police said.
Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos is charged with second-degree murder, Fairfax County police said Wednesday.
The victim, 42-year-old Carmen Lizet Puch of Reston, Virginia, was the mother of a 3-year-old girl.
Cedillos-Campos was a coworker of hers at Bitez restaurant in Herndon, sources told News4.
The two had an intimate relationship, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said, but detectives continue uncovering the motive.
“There are other aspects of that intimate relationship that involve other people,” Davis said but declined to get into further detail.
Police are interviewing Cedillos-Campos and say he confessed to the crime.

The guy in question was found not guilty of the murder by reason of insanity. He was institutionalized, but he convinced his psychiatrist and Descano’s office to let him out to get a new passport at the Tajikistan Embassy, which he did.
He then used that passport to book a one-way flight back to Tajikistan, got on the plane at Dulles, and went home.
Pretty good move for someone who is criminally insane.
I do a lot of trail walking. And yes, I’m always armed. And not just with pepper spray.
Well, one day I’m out for a walk and a lone young woman passes me going the other way. She stops me, and asks if I would take a picture of her on a nearby foot bridge.
Which I did.
Then I asked her if she carried pepper spray. She looked like I just asked her if she was carrying a machine gun.
No matter. I gave her my canister of pepper spray (police grade). I also told her to check some YouTube videos on its use.
I dunno. Perhaps I prevented a future tragedy. Or maybe later she just threw the pepper spray away.
