WASHINGTON, Aug 8 (Reuters) - U.S. House Democrats preparing for a possible return to power are developing a broad investigative strategy targeting companies and financial firms surrounding President Donald Trump, instead of trying to impeach him immediately, according to four people familiar with the discussions.
Senior Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives and committee aides have discussed using hearings, subpoenas and document requests to obtain records from entities tied to Trump's political and business orbit, the sources said. It is a bet that investigating private companies and outside financial players will prove more fruitful than directly confronting a White House they expect to resist oversight, they said.

And while the dems go after Trump, they might as well and go ahead after the GOP head of the Senate too...oh wait, never mind I forgot Thune is a closet dem.
It is embarrassing to me that America’s politics has lowered itself to this point.
They would try to impeach Trump for breathing.

This is a ploy to make major donors be wary of supporting republicans in the midterms, for fear of experiencing the wrath of the demoncrats should they end up controlling Congress after November.
The Democrats need to forget about this & do something about the mess in Iran or at least express their ideas on that. We already know they all (mostly) have TDS as first place in their minds. That won’t solve the Iranianian problem & might only make it worse. I’ll be glad when they shut up & start trying to do something about the actual problems we have as a country. They seem to have no decent ideas on that at all.
This is ALL they will do.
Nothing will happen for two years. The government will shut down two or three times a year.
They will all be frothing at the mouth.
And the commies will gain ground because they will sound like the rational adults in the room. Until they are actually elected.
Today’s Democrats don’t care about fairness or doing what’s best for the country.
So of course the Democrats will impeach Trump if they regain the House.
It’s 100% guaranteed.
Then conviction will fail in the Senate.
Rinse and repeat.
This is what you get for running on a promise to drain the swamp, and then instead of that you try playing nice and never holding the bad actors in government accountable for the lawbreaking.
At least they're saying something about it (even though their solutions are very wrong).
Radical leftists (which is now a central component of the Democrats) will do anything to install their ideology as the law of the land - while enslaving the rest of us.
There's a book written by a previous Democrat operative and fundraiser, Evan Barker, who has left that party and voted for Trump. Her book is called: Nothing Left. There are interviews with her available in which she talks about how ideologically driven and lacking in reason that many 'educated' Democrats have become, and how they have become the "party of the rich".
Quelle surprise. Nobody could doubt it for a minute.
For Republicans, and especially Team Trump, keeping even a narrow majority in the House an Senate is existential. The possibility of losing this slim advantage may be very real, but failure is not an option that Republicans should accept under any circumstances, if they mean to remain effectual or significant.
After all, who remembers who the Whigs were?
