Donald Trump Won The Iran War

The maximalists wanted regime change, the minimalists wanted nothing, and the doubters see only waffling. Carafano’s answer: the victor gets to define victory — and everywhere you look, the region is moving Trump’s way.
Iran War Turns into Trump Middle East Triumph: We are about to see the biggest reshaping of the Middle East since Moses led the Jews out of Egypt.
Like the pharaoh, who missed every warning sign up to the parting of the Red Sea, the critics and questioners of Trump’s tug-of-war with what’s left of the Iran regime seem obtuse to the prophetic truth that the region will never be the same again—in a good way.

Terrific analysis piece, and beautifully written. Found this story featured on President Trump's Truth Social page today.

That feels really good to say, but we’ll see how it all looks tomorrow morning. Whatever such declaration by the president, expect to hear the opposite declaration from
‘Iranian Officials.
Ping becomes Pong, then back again.

winning the war would be an overthrow of the IGRC and mullahs. That has not happened
But in MMA terms, Trump has Iran on the mat, and in a headlock. Iran haven’t tapped-out, but they are very tightly constrained.
And at almost zero cost to American lives
Now just don’t let them off the mat.

Summary of ArticleSummary of “Donald Trump Won the Iran War” by James Jay Carafano (19FortyFive, August 2026):The article argues that President Donald Trump has effectively won the conflict with Iran by achieving his limited but strategic goals: neutralizing the Iranian regime’s ability to bully neighbors, destabilize the region, threaten U.S. interests, pursue nuclear weapons, and support attacks like those on October 7 against Israel. Carafano, a national security expert and 25-year Army veteran, contends that the Middle East is undergoing its most significant positive reshaping in modern times as a result. He dismisses critics in several categories:
- Maximalists, who demand full regime change and view anything less as defeat.
- Minimalists, who wanted the U.S. to do nothing and ignore the threats Iran posed.
- Procrastinators, who see Trump’s mix of negotiation and pressure as indecisive, overlooking his preference for minimizing unnecessary casualties while steadily degrading Iranian capabilities.
- Obstructionists (the remaining Iranian leadership), who claim survival equals victory despite severe military and economic setbacks.
Carafano stresses that “the victor gets to define victory.” Trump’s theory of victory centers on eliminating Iran’s capacity for regional disruption, thereby enabling collective security, reconstruction, economic resilience, and long-term deterrence. Success is measured by the emergence of this new regional order rather than by maximalist or minimalist standards.Evidence of progress includes:
- Energy resilience: Iran can no longer credibly threaten to shut down a major share of global oil exports. Regional oil flows are recovering (e.g., UAE near 85% of pre-war levels), prices have not spiked dramatically, and alternatives such as potential Saudi-Israeli pipelines are advancing.
- Reconstruction: Agreements to disarm Hamas as a step toward Gaza rebuilding, a pilot reconstruction project, a U.S.-Israel-Lebanon framework, and efforts to normalize relations with Syria.
- Economic integration: Major U.S.-Iraq deals (over $60 billion), investments in corridors like TRIPP, and renewed urgency for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), with Iran’s neighbors deepening ties to the U.S. and partners.
- Security cooperation: Joint actions against Iran-backed militias, a Saudi-led Red Sea maritime security coalition, and expanded Israel-UAE defense ties.
The author concludes that these developments—rising American influence, new partnerships, and momentum toward regional stability—would not be occurring if Trump were losing. Historians, he predicts, will view Trump as the most consequential modern force reshaping the Middle East, ultimately making it easier to “make and keep America great” by turning a problem region into a source of benefits.

Is the Nobel Peace Prize Committee still taking nominations?
I think it is long-overdue for a flood (tsunami?) of submissions.

We know. He’s told us that some 4 dozen times since the war began. So when do we take our toys and go home?

Why? Let the Persian people purge the IRGC. 100% true. Iran is not a unified country at all. There are certainly more liberal factions waiting to take over if the opportunity presents itself. The IRGC has some bitter-clingers remaining. Only Iranian people and esp. government insiders themselves can manage this.
Its not something the USA can accomplish with troops or a presence there.
And if that doesn't happen, keep them in the headlock.

while “the victor gets to define victory” it really should be a genuine victory for America this time (eliminating Iranian dictators’ nuclear bomb and ICBM missile building programs, for starters).
Defining an imaginary or Potemkin village type “victory” would leave America (and many additional countries) in danger of very serious, deadly consequences.
Just saying...
