The director of African American Affairs at Minnesota State University (MSU), Mankato is no longer employed by the university after a federal jury convicted him of a tax fraud scheme prosecutors said generated approximately $387,000 in fraudulent tax refunds.
Cortez Hollis worked in the university’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) division, where he led the African American Affairs office.
A federal jury found Hollis guilty in June on 20 counts of aiding or assisting in the preparation of false tax returns, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Hollis owned and operated Hollis Tax Time, a Minnesota tax preparation business that prosecutors said he used to prepare false tax returns for clients.
Prosecutors said Hollis told clients he could obtain tax credits other preparers did not know about. Instead, they said he created fictitious businesses and claimed thousands of dollars in business losses clients had never incurred, generating tax refunds they were not entitled to receive.

How is this a full time job? I'd like to see a detailed summary of specific things he does during the course of a 40 hour work week that pertains to "African American Affairs."
Among the notable names: Councilman Cleve Dunn Jr., former Mayor Sharon Weston Broome’s right-hand Courtney Scott, and Pearlina Thomas, a former high-ranking official at the Baton Rouge bus system, CATS.
Councilman Cleve Dunn Jr. was indicted on nine felony counts in January of this year. His charges include public contract fraud, theft of over $25,000, criminal conspiracy, malfeasance in office, public bribery, money laundering, and prohibited splitting of profits, fees, or commissions.
The indictment alleges Dunn, along with Pearlina Thomas, Jay Colar, Terral Jackson, and Erica Jackson, conspired to steal public money through fraudulent conduct tied to CATS contracts, according to court records.
Minnesota is making Louisiana look like pikers.

I think their job entails emailing Professors to make sure the highest grade and any awards go to a “person of color”.

I know someone who went to “Mankato State”. I have never heard her call it “Minnesota State University”. Maybe that’s because most people never use the full name. But this is the first time I’ve ever heard of “Minnesota State University” aside from the TV show “Coach”.

Appears that the school officially changed the name from Mankato State to Minnesota State University in 1998, one year after the “Coach” series ended.
Go figure. I knew people that graduated from Mankato Stae in the 80’s and it was the second largest University in Minnesota. Had to be an expensive eproposition officially changing the schools name and for what overall purpose?
Weird.
