Adam Hamilton has won the Democratic nomination for the US Senate in Kansas.
Hamilton, a political outsider who works as a megachurch pastor and author, was selected as the nominee on Tuesday evening shortly after polls closed.
GOP leaders are working to send incumbent Republican Roger Marshall back to the Senate from a state typically seen as a conservative stronghold, but currently has a Democrat in the governor's office.
1932 was the last time Democrats won a US Senate election in Kansas, but the state's current governor, Democrat Laura Kelly, won in 2018 and 2022.
As results rolled in Tuesday night, over a quarter of Republicans came out to vote against Marshall, instead choosing to support his challenger, Pond Naramore.
Hamilton beat out a crowded field in the Democratic primary, besting 10 other candidates.

What’s the matter with Kansas?
They’re using the same playbook from Georgia—Senator Raphael Warnock is a Pastor.
He could but he won’t be
Has pence endorsed him yet?
How far we’ve fallen : a “Pastor” kneels before the party of Infant Murder.
The matter with Kansas is that they are Kansans… stubborn, always right, adamant…environmentalists and not conservationists…make-do-get-by, cheap…. Even their own institutions fight to the end (K-State v. KU). But they will be the new home of the KC Chiefs so they must be doing something right.
Somebody wins the Democrat primary every election cycle.
Doesn’t mean they’re going to win, and in Kansas it has meant they won’t for almost the last hundred years.
That is one step below a whore.

Just because one foreign media outlet is cheerleading for the dem candidate does not mean he is going to win in November.
Marshall should to well in November. Kansas has been a very quiet race this cycle. Not like Maine or Texas.

Odd question coming from a state that allows legalized large scale gambling and prostitution.
Winning with 36% is hardly “Rolling to victory”. Not sure how much the liberal Ds will having a Pastor as a candidate.
Marshall will pick up most of 20% that went to his opponent in November.
My sympathies. That is like Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor in Michigan. It us sad that rural areas have no voice. It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Only property owners were supposed to vote.
The dems did a focus group and learned that pastors and veterans are still viewed with respect, thus...............

Beyond that, the Dems had a MUCH LOWER turnout.
