750 Military Veterans are Running for Office in 2026. 80% of Americans Trust Them

As hundreds of military veterans campaign across countless U.S. states between now and November, new polling shows that Americans trust the candidates more than the military institution itself.

A Gallup poll conducted in partnership with the cross-partisan veteran organization With Honor and released July 30 found that 77% of 1,001 adults across all 50 states trust people with military experience to perform well in office, with 70% having a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in military veterans in such roles. Just 18% responded that they have some confidence, and 10% reported very little confidence.

The poll shows that appreciation for veteran candidates extends across partisan lines, with majorities of Democrats (70%), independents (73%) and Republicans (91%) expressing this view. When age is factored into the equation, nearly eight in 10 adults aged 55 and older (79%) said they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in veterans, compared with 68% of those aged 35 to 54, and 57% of those aged 18 to 34.

Dr. Ellyn Maese, Gallup's research analyst on the project, told Military.com that this poll mirrors others Gallup has conducted regarding Americans' confidence in people and institutions over the past 20 years.

This survey collected results based on random digit dialing techniques, which she said is one of the premier probability-based sampling techniques that provides for a diverse array of responses.

"We're seeing really high levels of confidence in veterans," Maese said. "The military has long been kind of at the top of the list of high degree of confidence across Americans, second only to small businesses this year. That's been pretty consistent, so it's really tracking with what we're seeing here for military veterans as well."

This poll, conducted June 1 to 15 and...

Anyone who would vote for a veteran just because they are a veteran is a fool. Although if it was Lee Oswald against James Talarico, I’d probably have to go with the Marine.

Well, that’s reasonable, seeing as how Oswald was probably a patsy, albeit a Communist friendly one.

Being a vet is usually good for a point in my game, unless you’re a Democrat. Not being a vet doesn’t matter. Usually.

being a Republican vet +1, being a Democrat vet is a -1 for me. means they are extra stupid and untrustworthy.

being former military does not guarantee a patriot or right leaning.

remember, 0bama did what he could to fill the ranks with left leaning freaks then elevate them as fast as he could.

Benedict Arnold was a war hero and a veteran.

He would have sold out to Arabs, Cartels or RedChinks.

That’s the problem with so few Americans serving in the military these days.

Anyone who has served has inevitably known some extraordinarily stupid people there. There are also many competent and committed military people, but during my six years of service, they were in the minority.

I’m a Vet, 20 years in the Army and Desert Storm. I wouldn’t vote for someone just because they’re a Vet. I tend to be harsher with Vets than civilians in my judgments. We (Vets) are just people with the same weaknesses and darkness as any other. Some of us have seen more darkness and some, unfortunately have become, if not comfortable with it then maybe too accustomed to it.

As a current member of the Army National Guard, I can tell you that if you automatically trust and vote from someone simply because they wore a uniform, you are a dammed fool.

I’m not sure which occupation is best suitable for political office. Business owners might be high on the list. Maybe farmers.

This has been the new scam of the Democrats for a few years now. They go and find a veteran and run them for office. Voters think the candidates must be trustworthy and patriotic because they are veterans and then vote for them. But instead, they are full blown leftist lunatics. See Mikie Sherrill, Mark Kelly, Conor Lamb, Eugene Vindman et. al. This poll supports that theory.

Absolutely, the American people are too uninformed to govern themselves. They are flirting with tyranny and gulag as they denounce ICE and prisons.

Are you aware of how popular Talarico is now? People think he is a Messiah of sorts because of seminarian training.
