U.S. President Donald Trump declined to provide Ukraine with 300 Patriot interceptor missiles that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had requested to defend the country against Russian attacks this winter, The Atlantic reported on July 30.
Instead, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump offered Kyiv a license to produce its own interceptors domestically — though large-scale production could reportedly take years.
The Atlantic's report did not specify exactly when Zelenskyy made the request to Trump.
According to an analysis by the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the war in Iran has depleted U.S. Patriot interceptor stockpiles by roughly two-thirds. The study estimated the United States currently has only about 759 of the most advanced Patriot interceptors available.
The Atlantic also noted that Ukraine had only a limited supply of Patriot interceptors last winter, which it used to intercept Russian missile attacks and protect critical infrastructure.....
On July 30, Trump said he was "not sure" whether the United States would grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot missiles, saying Washington was "looking at it."
"It's a very extraordinary weapon, and...we have to be a little bit careful about who we license to. We don't really license equipment," Trump said.

Japan makes Patriots that we buy from them and Germany is supposed to be making them at some point, Poland and the Netherlands were supposed to fire up factories at one point.

European nations also use or develop regional alternatives like the Franco-Italian SAMP/T and Germany’s IRIS-T system.

The two problems with that strategy? Trump has a midterm coming up, and the $200 a month extra in gas bills per household per month will be $2K by election day. That $2K could cause a blue wave despite the sheer idiocy of the sex changing Communists the Democrats are running. The other is the destruction of expensive facilities the US has in the region and the waste of Patriot interceptors ($3m each) that wouldn’t have been needed if Trump had followed the standard air campaign template of keeping the other side ducking.
This has nothing to do with Z you Putinista clown. Trump needs Patriot interceptors for the Iran war. For the US bases and our allies.
US armaments are dwindling as a result of the Iran War. It would be foolish to lose 300 missiles when we may need them ourselves.
I looked up which systems compete with Patriot. There are quite a few. I’d imagine that they are also in short supply.
