Here’s my minority position – I think Republicans are set to do surprisingly well in the 2026 midterms and very, very well in 2028. Oh, I don’t put it beyond the Republicans to screw up any advantage they’ve been handed. Republicans have the uncanny ability to squander a good thing, but what the Democrats are handing over is pure electoral gold. If you look at the relative positioning of both parties in terms of future electoral success, there is zero question that the Republican Party is much better situated to begin a lengthy sojourn in power. The Democrats have walked themselves into a minefield, and they’ve got no map.
Let’s take a look at a few of these land mines. Some of them are obvious, some a lot less so. Will they all fully manifest by 2028? No, some will arise in later cycles. What’s important to remember is that even if the Democrats were aware of them, there’s not a lot they can do about them. One of the problems with the Democrats is that, ironically, the liberals are absolutely resistant to change; they not only don’t want to do it, but they can’t do it. They’ve confused their ideology with a religion, limiting the ability of Democrat politicians to exercise a key tool in any effective politician's toolbox – the flexibility to do a 180 on their most deeply-held beliefs when it makes sense at election time.
The first land mine is an obvious one, but that’s not going to stop them from stomping on it. The Democrats are going harder and harder left. Right now, the success of the socialist insurgents has been limited to deep blue districts. Where they try to do it in more purple areas, they have more mixed success. In Virginia, they managed

FRiends, break the rules and read the whole article. It’s 2:30 AM here in the sweatbox of northern TX, and I’m feeling 100 times better for the future I can hand my grandson who will be born in four weeks. Thank you, Kurt.
Leftism *is* a religion, but Leftists think they are anti-religious. They are as dogmatic as a hard core Islamist.

The irony is... that their “progressivism”.... ie their religion.... is anything but progressive. It is rooted in the same ole, same ole ‘cemented in stone’ Marxist ideology that is resistant to change... and resistant to improvement. It’s all about destruction and ultimate control... along with that ‘absolute power corrupts absolutely’ adage. And the left is stuck within that arrogamt yet ignorant frame of mind...while always thinking that they are the brightest bulbs on the tree. It’s kind of funny, really. Well, maybe one day in the distant future... it might be funny... if/when the day finally comes that “The Democrats will, correctly, be painted as the party of traitors.”
1.) The GOP won't pass the Save Act not because they are stupid but because they are dirty and on the take, or being blackmailed.
2.) The GOP is not a bunch of blunderers and cowards; they are just looking like it to avoid being detected for being on the take and being blackmailed.
3.) Cuba, if it falls, will immediately cause 5 to 10 more millions of bona fide Communists to seek refuge in the US, many who will claim relatives in the US. That will be an electoral death knell for us.
4.) The Rat party will gain many, many more ignorant single females who are growing massively as a man-hating, GOP-hating entity; this will far outweigh the handful of actually-working Rats whom he says are fleeing to the GOP (this I do not see).
Plus there is further to go in redistricting. Mississippi, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana and especially Georgia have much more low hanging fruit to harvest if they were to gerrymander like blue states do. By my count it would be 1 seat in each of the first 4 states above and 3-4 seats in Georgia.
As for education, we need to push for more states to adopt school choice and more need to do what Florida has been doing and start - for the very first time - to push back against leftist indoctrination in the universities by banning DEI, deliberately hiring more Conservative faculty for sake of balance, etc.
Finally, how long can the Democrats Frankenstein Coalition hold together? Many of the little grievance groups they've cobbled together actually hate each other. Muslims and DSA commies. Muslims vs Feminazis and the Alphabet people. Muslims and DSA commies vs Jews. The Alphabet people and muslims and feminazis vs Hispanics....and to some extent Blacks who are also more religious and more Conservative in their worldviews. You can't please one without alienating others.
Seriously. They just hate White Men is what it all boils down to. Whether it be The West or Capitalism or "the Patriarchy", etc. At the end of the day, the one villain at the root of everything for them is the White Man. Notice how they don't mind patriarchy when its done by brown people (ie Muslims). They don't care about the environment when it comes to importing more poor brown people into White countries so they can live those sinful high carbon lifestyles. They don't even say much of anything about carbon emissions when its China or India. No. Its only bad when White people do it. And by people they mean Men....and of course women who marry them and have kids with them which the Left views as treason.....because they're supposed to own women you see.....
My favorite line from the article!
Even if we come out somewhere in the middle, we are no longer looking at a sea-to-sea Kalifornia.
Be encouraged.
Because they had to live under REAL Communism I would not worry about that. It is the damn fools who have never actually lived under that evil who still fall for all of its lies
“”3.) Cuba, if it falls, will immediately cause 5 to 10 more millions of bona fide Communists to seek refuge in the US, many who will claim relatives in the US. That will be an electoral death knell for us.””

If communism in Cuba falls, there will be no need for anyone to ‘seek refuge’ in the US, since the US will be there helping them rebuild and recover from communism. And the US is the dead LAST place those communists would want to be, as refugees or as anything else, with Donald Trump in the White House. Get a reality grip.
The actual upside from any surge of Cubans migrating to the US would be the further enlightenment of US voters to the horrors of what living under communism really means.... since they have lived through those horrors, first hand, for decades.

Because they are weak-minded, totally brainwashed useful idiots that have fallen prey to the leftist propaganda machine. And natch, the white man has been targeted and demonized by enemy nation propagandists AND by our enemy within, the Democrats... because that is the left’s biggest threat on planet earth... especially “white men in uniform”. The logic always escapes the leftist morons, however. They actually believe the BS they’ve been fed against ‘white men’... just as they believe the BS they’ve been fed against Israel.

Agree. This is a surprisingly comprehensive list. The Cuba twist is a surprise.
I find the Cubans I’ve met here in Florida to be more MAGA , hard working, patriotic and God fearing than most . Cubans just may have a hand in saving the US.
I love Kurt and his way with words so reading him is a pleasure. Goatbangistan made me chuckle.

Quite possibly.
I hope Kurt is right........BUT
The Democrats will turn out 110% of the deranged Trump haters and govt parasite classes.
Trump luster is wearing thin because he has not delivered promises
-Epstein files and prosecutions.
-Another war we do not have the balls to win.
-No round up of “RUSSIA-RUSSIA-RUSSIA coup conspirators.
-Gasoline prices.
-Birth citizenship.
-Nationwide CCW.
-Slow illegal collection and herd out....he needs to do weekly numbers like the “VC Kill Count” in Viet Nam.
-Running mouth on things like Greenland, bitch slapping Canada/Mexico but doing very little, etc.)
.....so his wizened Old Guard will “levee en masse encore une fois pour l’empereurpour”, but the Summer Soldiers and Independents will not.
But this is just my informed opinion, and I feel pretty strongly about this time.
I and my ever attritting cohort of friends were Trumpists dating back to 2012 or so.....1/2 are left out of a 20 man group. :-<
Remember the Awan Bros scandal? Most even here at FR do not.
I dunno. Looking at it pragmatically, the hardening of the left against normalcy, its embracing of marxists, support for uke & irgc (and Cuba, plus marxists in latin/south america), its embrace of anti-child trans policies, defense of those (illegals or otherwise) who defraud the government...
...at face value it appears like a strategy, but no political operative’s face is at the forefront. Not even DJT. Possible, but the evidence is lacking.
Bottom line: Mainstream demoncrats’ support - i.e., not opposing - of the left’s hard turn is so self-destructive on so many levels that it could be argued that events are merely based upon stupidity.
But that is only one facet: I believe elements of the US government - aka ‘ds’ - are permissive and even supportive of our enemies’ efforts to destroy us from within and despite the fawning efforts of some like Kurt, I believe a violent turn WILL happen in my lifetime. And not just against demoncrats (the gop is no friend here).
Regardless the outcome of the midterms, they’ve - those in control - gamed this from every angle and the result of those elections will be fodder for debate/argument for years.
IMHO there is only one overarching question:
When will the right collectively wake up?
