Atlantic magazine's Jonathan Chait recently experienced a brief flirtation with political sanity when he expressed panic over the possibility of communists (who now call themselves socialists) taking over his beloved Democrat Party.
However, alas, poor Chait relapsed and embraced one of the most fervent Mad Hatter delusions of the extreme left, as you can see in the very title of his Wednesday descent down the Socialist (Communist) rabbit hole: "Abolishing the Senate Might Be the DSA’s Best Idea."
The subtitle assures no return trip for Chait, who just flushed away the concept of American federalism: "A teardown of the upper chamber would be good for American democracy."

It would be better to abolish political parties.
Its a great idea if you couple it with voter fraud and illegals voting. If you clean up voting and go full democracy in the US, I think you’ll get a much more MAGA government than Chait would want.
I wouldn’t want to completely abolish the U.S. Senate, but it is a den of vipers at present. It needs an overhaul. I’d start with telling the New England states they need to reform as one state, and then split California into at least three states. The Fourteenth Amendment drastically changed the balance of power between the states and federal government, and the present Senate is difficult to reconcile with the original agreement. Senators no longer represent their states as much as they represent themselves. It would probably require another civil war to accomplish this. Also, a six year term is too long. A four year term should suffice to slow impulsive legislation.
Abolishing all Feral courts and firing their 7-11 and Omelette House “judgette” mammies is an even better idea.
Prior to the 17th Amendment, the States (legislatures) appointed their US Senators.
In that Constitutional mandate, the States (legislatures) could RECALL their Senators for “fiduciary malfeasance”.
Simple answer, return the 10th Amendment-prerogative to “the States, respectively, or to the people” and repeal the 17th Amendment.
Simple.

This is exactly why I’m against having armed teachers in schools.
When you consider the kind of politburo the union and town bureaucrats would assemble to decide who gets to pack heat, you’ll realize it’ll be Johnny and Mary wearing Jesus on their clothes or a flag hat that get shot by the art teacher still wearing a mask who’s married to her cat in a civil ceremony.
1. State legislators electing U.S. Senators, keeping the U.S. Senate under the scrutiny of citizen legislators nearer to home, and the U.S. Senators more answerable to the states for the way they vote in Washington than to lobbies far from home.
2. The Concept of the U.S. Senate itself where every state, regardless of size has equal representation in the federal government.
3. The Electoral College, protecting the rural regions from tyranny of the masses in the urban areas, and giving them just representation.
The first leg was sawn off in 1913 by the Seventeenth Amendment. Since then the nation has had to sit balancing on the other two legs. For all of my life (71 now), and so probably longer, there have been attacks on the Electoral College by socialists/communists, and other stupid people.
This SDA (I imagine Seventh Day Adventists fume about that acronym) plank, to eliminate the U.S. Senate, is a further act of war on the Republic.

They want to abolish it because they keep losing control of it.
Repeal direct elections of senators. The original job of the senate was to represent the interests of their states in DC.
