Ticket sales begin today in the United Kingdom, marking the first time a lottery outside the United States will contribute to the Powerball jackpot.
The expansion will debut with Wednesday night's drawing, which features an estimated $567 million annuitized jackpot with a $251.8 million cash value.
Lottery officials say adding players from across the Atlantic is expected to help jackpots grow faster — without changing the game for players in the United States.

Excellent observation. I never thought of that.
It means if you are American, you just pay in and will never win.
What a crock.
I fully expect a big drop in US participation.
People will think they will have less chance of winning and find an alternative lottery.
Should mohammed bin smith in the UK win the jackpot, I wonder if he will insist it be paid in Dollars rather than Pounds?
