If it wasn't already clear, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) made it very clear this week that he doesn't intend to have the Senate take up Republican legislative priorities - not the SAVE America Act, and not keeping the government open.

I don't think they even care about that. They care about maintaining the one party system status quo. They'll lose a majority and be quite happy to let the dems block Trump instead of the GOP, but for now they're doing the dirty work themselves.

I thought Josh Hawley was one of the good guys until he participated in keeping the senate out of recess to prevent Trump making appointments. This senate is a lost cause ..they belong to those with more $ than most of us have.

Maybe someday, the people of South Dakota will WAKE THE HELL UP, and get rid of this John Corlin lookalike. His kind is the reason I no longer give a dime to the RINO party. I left them years ago.

He’s pissed that his buddy Cornyn got fired by Texas. He and Cornyn are throwing temper-tantrums and are pulling the McCain ‘Let’s see him (Trump) make America great now’ BS.

To get rid of the Senate, you’d have to get rid of the Constitution. You agree with that?

But the original point of the Senate’s original unique powers (ratification of treaties, approval of judges/justices and high government officials) was eliminated by the ratification of the 17th Amendment.

You get rid of the Senate, you end up with the British system.

No, there would just be an amendment. They did the same for changing Senators being appointed by States and the senator will be elected by the populace.

“repeal the 17th amendment”

Yes and double or triple the number of house members. With modern technology they don’t even need to go to Washington DC.

This would do much to restore balance to our government.

There was, on November 26, 2024, absolutely no doubt that the GOP despised Trump and his victory...

It was a given that DJT would never be allowed to cement his policies into permanent law...

The GOP had handcuffed and backstabbed Trump from 2017 until 2020, and their well-orchestrated treason was guaranteed to be repeated after Trump’s 2024 victory... A victory that had dug the GOP out of a deep hole in DC power...

The GOP longs for the days when they could enjoy all the responsibility emptiness of being perennial backbenchers...

Thune and all the treasonous scum like him in the Senate need to be very harshly dealt with..

A good thing will happen when Thune is thrown over the side. He’s a snake in the grass and a pain in the ass.

Cornyn was doomed to begin with. He’s a Thune Clone and not worth worrying about. He’s gone and thank God for that.

Sure, but he was part of that whole ‘Elder Statesmen’ gang that McCain, McConnell, Thune and others were. Full on GOPe types that didn’t want to be in the majority, because they could fundraise off failure and still get invited on the DC cocktail party circuit.
