A House Republican is introducing legislation that would require the Daughters of the American Revolution to limit membership to biological women, saying the historic organization's congressional charter should reflect its original mission after the group adopted a policy interpreted as allowing transgender applicants.
Rep. Ben Cline, R-Va., introduced the Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act on Wednesday.
"The DAR has a longstanding tradition of celebrating and empowering women who represent the exceptional heritage of the birth of our Nation," Cline said in a statement provided exclusively to Fox News Digital.

Cut the Gordian Knot and just pass a bill that declares that gender is based on biological sex and is immutable. A person is male or female based solely on one’s biological sex.
Isn’t DAR a private organization? CONgress should MYOB. Even though I support the ban in theory.

Exactly. Does the GOP really think voters - even conservative voters - are going to be happy about this? They should be passing the SAVE Act and also should have been working on a comprehensive economic package. The optics of this Daughters of the American Revolution bill are horrible - its Nero fiddles while Rome burns.
A man joined in Texas with an amended birth certificate and then four or five more joined across the country. I am in DAR and this is bullish!t.

the House already passed the SAVE act. This bill is more important than you think it is.
They are men who believe they can do things better than women. They know they are at the bottom of the barrel in a group of men. They can’t cut it. They are not interested in history, just their own plan to tear down the women.
I was under that impression as well. If they are doing this the DAR was already infected with “woke”.
How so? What authority does that give Congress to demand how an organization forms their membership?
That’s Obergefell’s “right to dignity” created by the Justice who was installed by Biden and Byrd.
DAR is a federally chartered lineage-based membership service organization for women who are directly descended from a patriot of the American Revolution.

SAR member here. As sad and disgusting as allowing delusional Frankenstein into the DAR is, I say the Congressman is out of line here. The DAR is a private organization that cannot and should not be told by our government whom they should and should not allow to be among their members.
This would open a door we never want to open.
The point is the federal charter.
