ICE ordered its agents on Tuesday to cease vehicle stops in immigration enforcement activities following the fatal shooting of Joan Sebastian Guerrero, 26, of Colombia, in Biddeford on Monday.
“While the investigation of the Biddeford shooting is not yet complete, it raises sufficient critical questions that I spoke with DHS Secretary Mullin last night and urged him to cease all non-urgent vehicle stops,” said Sen. Susan Collins on X on Tuesday.
The Daily Wire first reported the new directive, citing three unnamed Homeland Security sources, and FOX News later confirmed the reporting with statements from other unnamed federal sources.
According to those reports, ICE agents were instructed to stop making traffic stops immediately, except in cases where the suspect is also wanted on a criminal warrant.
Even in those cases, they will reportedly need to partner with another law enforcement agency to initiate the stop.
The change will severely limit ICE’s ability to arrest illegal immigrants, turning a vehicle into a haven for suspects. ICE has reportedly preferred to catch suspects during traffic stops rather than at their homes, where they are required to obtain a judicial warrant to enter and where suspects may have more access to weapons.

The decision appears to be a direct response to the shooting in Biddeford on Monday morning, which sparked a massive protest, including violent protesters who allegedly assaulted a Maine Wire reporter and attempted to force their way into Sen. Collins’ office.
After the shooting, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement, notably failing to confirm that the man who was killed was the target of the enforcement operation and conspicuously avoiding saying that the ICE agents involved were acting in self-defense.

As news of the shooting spread, hundreds of protesters gathered in Biddeford’s Mechanics Park and near the scene to demonstrate against ICE.

Who gave the order? Did DHS Secretary Mullin give the order after talking to Senator Collins? The article just says three unnamed sources.

“Security camera footage from a nearby business obtained by the Portland Press Herald captured the aftermath of the shooting. At 7:17 a.m., a white car enters the intersection of Pool and Hill streets and begins to turn right in a circle as two plainclothes officers in green vests approach. The car continues in a slow circle as the agents follow, one appearing to try to open the driver’s door.
A white SUV, presumably belonging to the agents, bumps into the passenger side of the car and brings the car to a stop. At least one officer draws a gun before opening the driver’s door and pulling the driver out and onto the road.
Another video taken from a different angle, which a witness provided to the Bangor Daily News, shows agents pulling a limp body from a car and then tying the man’s hands behind his back.”

I recall that when that woman was shot as she aimed her vehicle at an ICE agent in Minneapolis, there was another story about the agitators being trainrd by someone, maybe antifa, on using a vehicle as a weapon.
The woman killed positioned her car diagonally in the middle of the street so that she could control either lane by going forward or backward.
Does anyone else recall the story and any subsequent ones??
Why do we keep backing off, and why is the DOJ and the AG not involved? Immigration law and enforcement are the exclusive province of the feds. Stop treating these illegal aliens as though they were citizens under protection of civil law enforcement rules and regs. They are enemies of the state. Get the local feel-good interlopers the hell out of the way. And let ICE do its job.
Trump should ask each Mayor in this country if they want Federal agents in their city. If NO, announce that no agents will enter except federal buildings security. Illegals, gang members, rapists, robbers will know they will be safe there.
