Trump to shrink two Utah national monuments by 90%

President Donald Trump signed an executive order drastically shrinking the size of two national monument areas in Utah on Monday.

The order applies to the Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears national monuments, shrinking their total coverage by roughly 90% from 3 million acres to 300,000. The areas were established as federal monuments by President Bill Clinton in 1996 and Barack Obama in 2016, respectively.

"They took the land from the people quite honestly," Trump said during the Monday signing ceremony. "We’re giving it back."

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox also attended the signing and praised the move, saying the original size of the monuments was far too expansive.

Grande Staircase Escalante was a Clinton Administration protection for the Lippo Group to get rid of American coal while letting the Riyady Family in Indonesia gain control.

The design of the monuments were to protect Democrat donors and prevent American jobs.

The issue was minerals and BJ’s excuse for ‘protecting’ the environment.

Making things right....

Now go after the thousands of acres taken for the damn owl...

Then there's the snail darter and some frog...Environmentalists are nuts.

Cut down the big old trees and plant three.

And clean up the damn forest floor of tinder...

Lots of coal in that area. Years ago there was plans to build two mine mouth power plants in the area.
The plants at Page have been destroyed as have the ones at Kirtland NM and Waterflow NM.

These monuments were nothing but the rats confiscating huge blocks of land from the states, especially red states.

Yes I remember this outrage. Clinton did this to reward illegal donations I think from Indonesia, and to deny our country access to clean coal. It’s a worthless Wasteland that absolutely no one visits.

The absolute destruction of our nation’s energy resources is one of the most evil things the Democrats keep doing to our national security.

I am so happy all these years later that President Trump is reversing this.

I have been there many times.
Southern Utah is a beautiful country, but bot of there areas are not special at all!
They do not even have a visitor center and facilities.
There are really nice spots there (I am sure these are in the 10% left or were protected before Clinton lad grab [Escalante State park]), but overall, there is nothing special to visit or protect!
Just lad grab, to confiscate properties and stop any development.
According to Biden, about two thirds of the USA should be out of reach of ordinary people.
They started with these, plus there are other “national Memorials” not worth anything!

Across the border in Arizona the loons killed The Navajo Generating Station and cost the tribe 1,000 jobs.

In 1986, Lehman Caves State Park in NV was converted to Great Basin National Park.
I had read articles that this was the last National Park, ever, as there were no more lands worth protection.
At that was right.
Anything created after that date is Greene land grab, not worth visiting or protection!
I say that to anybody visiting US.
If you plan to visit National Parks, look at date of establishment.
Anything created after 1986 is useless!
Skip it!

The states take on the minerals and clean coal in the area was to be used to support Utah schools. Clintoon usurped it.

Nothing outside the few sq. miles that is D.C. does the Federal govt have ANY say, let alone control, in/about/over.

WAY past time for the States to take their lawful authority back from Fedzilla and do as they wish.

These aren’t “monuments.” What an absurd concept. It was just governmental land theft on behalf of Marxists.
