Lee was at the heart of the Charlottesville protests in 2017, followed by the Unite the Right rally where Heather Heyer was killed. The rally was funded in part by the SPLC, which paid for so-called informants to travel to the rally and encouraged white nationalists to go then fundraised off of it when it was over.
That statue was melted down and that metal will now be repurposed by the Boston firm Model of Architecture Serving Society to create something the Washington Post is calling a "monument to racial diversity." This is the same firm that created "The Embrace" which was meant to symbolize Coretta Scott and Martin Luther King Jr. but instead looks incredibly lewd from many angles.
The same firm that brought that atrocity to life will be creating a monument to a concept as vague as "racial diversity." They were chosen after a design competition that lasted months and will work with Oakland sculptor Dana King. Neither the firm nor the artist are from Charlottesville. "The project asks a question that extends well beyond Virginia," reports Architect magazine, "after a society dismantles a symbol of injustice, what should take its place?" The firm's winning idea was to turn the metal into an African tree. They call the thing "Rooted" and it's unclear why they're planting an African tree in Charlottesville instead of something that is more representative of American "racial diversity."

THIS DISGUSTS ME but—— LEE never wantee a single monument to him erected. He never wanted the war, and never wanted to go back to that time. So he would actually ruin their day by agreeing with them and proving to them he was not the monster they make him out to be.

The men whose images were removed cannot answer from the grave. The living can answer by refusing to let the theories that justified their removal continue to shape the next generation’s understanding of what is worth remembering and what must be forgotten. That refusal—carried out in hiring committees, school boards, corporate boards, and legislative chambers—is the monument that cannot be melted down. It is the only tribute commensurate with the scale of what has already been lost.
Everyone should join the American Heritage Society. They are in the process of working with Congress to re-erect Moses Ezekiel’s “Reconciliation Monument” in Arlington where he along with Confederate soldiers are buried.
All of you white southern men need to stand up and take your heritage back
If these bastards melt down one of our statues, we need to melt down 10 of theirs.
