Trump re-imposes Iran blockade and demands 20 percent tariff on ALL exports through Strait of Hormuz as oil prices skyrocket
UK Daily Mail ^ | 7/13/2026 | Phillip Nieto

Donald Trump has reinstated his naval blockade of Iran, barring ships from entering or leaving their ports, days after Tehran attacked another commercial vessel and declared the Strait of Hormuz closed.

The President also claimed the US would be paid a 20 percent tariff for securing safe passage for commercial vessels through the Persian Gulf. The details of Trump's demand were not immediately clear.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that the US 'will be, from this point forward, known as "The Guardian of the Hormuz Strait."'

'The process and formation will begin immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!'

Better to just take over that Kharg operation. Seize oil like we did w/Venezuela.

If it gets too hot on Kharg because they start attacking it, just blow the whole thing to smithereens.

The first priority of the media is to make the reader hate Trump.

This is not the full story. We are not terrorists. Iran is. Don’t let them change that narrative.

The Mail is just reporting what Trump himself posted on his own Truth Social account.

Wait - no - this is all lies!!! I was told Trump would NEVER bomb Iran again before November. Pretty sure pretty much everyone told me I was a clueless fool for believing so. Right?

I know that but the Daily Tale is provoking anti-Trump comments....that's what the Daily Tale does.

And if you think Trump meant it...you're not too bright.

That’s Trump’s opening offer in the ongoing negotiations with everyone all over the world - particularly those who rely on oil that ships through Hormuz.

Yeah - we appeased them with hundreds of bombs. I know that’s the way *I* always do it.

If negative comments can be provoked by simply quoting Trump’s words that’s on him and him alone. Why would any newspaper self-censure just to protect him from himself?

High oil prices are bad for the economy and bad for the wealth of individual Americans every time they check their 401ks. We’re in mid-July with the midterms looming. I wish we’d never started down this road this year - we were supposed to have destroyed iran’s nuclear capacity last year - but since we’re here, we need a decisive win. We can’t keep playing Iran’s game and dragging this out. Seize Kharg Island and force Iran to capitulate.

It’s at $80. That’s not low, but it was at $70 at the end of February. And the world is less dependent on oil that goes through Hormuz now, but that impact is even less than that $10 difference.

Not happy oil is barely moving through the Strait, but it’s not as dire as everyone makes out.

classic Trump!

Iran have provided the justification to tear-up the old deal, so now he completely re-formulates and expands his demands.

Agree. If ground troops are needed, ask the IDF if they would like an oil port. I don’t know why Trump expected them to honor the agreement, since they have broken every agreement since 1979. There is CNN footage showing them rebuilding the nuclear sites from the earlier bombings. Time to take out their roads and water pipelines. Make it difficult for the Iranian people. Maybe then they will rise up and take their country back.

He didn’t. And many around here have repeated that for weeks if not months.

But there is still international diplomacy and, for instance, the Sheik of Saudi Arabia has to tell his people that Iran was given every opportunity to make a deal before they joined the US in bombing Iran. Multiply that by all of the Gulf states and Europe, and...

If you don’t think Trump knows what he’s doing, run for office and show him how to do it right.
