McConnell says after weeks of speculation that hospitalization was due to a fall

Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky on Sunday announced, after weeks of speculation, that he had a fall last month that landed him in the hospital.

“My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia,” he said in a statement.

McConnell also provided a photo showing him smiling next to his wife, Elaine Chao. He appears to have a copy of Sunday’s Washington Post sports section on his lap.

McConnell said he’s moved from a hospital to a rehabilitation center to continue regaining his strength. His doctors have run through “every test they can think of” to try to determine what caused the incident.

The former Senate majority leader said he “won’t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet” but he’s “been working closely” with legislative staff in the meantime.

Looks like he's in hospice care now.

He's home now.

The media acts like no one has ever been sick before and wheeled in to vote...

Because Senators must be present to vote...

different for the house...

I guess House Members do have to be in chambers to vote and Covid provided a temporary measure that they didn’t have to be present.

So chest compressions mentioned being done on him on Emergency recording were not done or unnecessary?

McConnell also provided a photo showing him smiling next to his wife, Elaine Chao. He appears to have a copy of Sunday’s Washington Post sports section on his lap.

On his official website, the photo was edited and cropped a few hours ago to remove the Washington Post newspaper. There were too many AI-generated artifacts and errors with that portion of the image. It's all a scam.

Thune most likely wants to keep McConnell "alive" until at least August 3rd, so KY won't have a special election to replace him.

Stunning recovery!

[Should be easy to date the newspaper from the photo]

Passed out ancient folks like McConnell can be hard to find a pulse, especially for bystanders (people not trained in regular emergency situations). CPR commonly gets done on someone unconscious until EMS arrives and finds a pulse and that the person is breathing on their own.

I do find it funny that common people his age are advised by hospital doctors to be "Do not resuscitate". But for Senators like McConnell they don't seem to have Doctors that advise in the same fashion.

How many of us would get to stay in the Hospital for a month when there were no fractures, hemorrhages, tumors ??

There is a concerted effort by the deep swamp GOPe rinos to continue to oppose Trump and maintain control of mcconnell’s seat by using smoke and mirrors to make it appear mcconnell is healthy.

The only reason to start cpr is if there is not an effective pulse detected or present.

Nothing in the provided explaination would require cpr

cpr is started on patients transported to the e.r. statistically has a low survive to leave the hospital rate.

cpr on elderly patients is worse, as to achieve adequate compressions, you break many of the ribs in the chest or separate them from the sternum.

I’m not buying the line he’s doing well, without a live, streaming on tv interview in a public, outside on the street, environment, with loomer as one of the interviewers.

Would the ulterior purpose of that be to continue thwarting the SAVE America Act? I don't understand why the ePubs are so set against it when NOT passing it empowers an opposing party that's plainly hellbent on radical ruination of our nation.

They're insuring the Democrats regain power is like an adult handing a five-year old a loaded gun.

Harsh as it sounds the greatest service McConnell can do for his country now is to resign or pass away. Oh wait...word is that that country is China.

That picture looks like it was taken a number of years ago as Mitch hasn’t looked that young in quite awhile.

Replacing McConnell with a Republican is anything *but* a guarantee. That’s 100% of the motivation to keep him as long as possible and to focus as mich effort as possible on the one race that matters most - November. Everything isn’t a conspiracy. Sometimes it’s more obvious than people will allow themselves to accept.
