LIFEBOAT

One of the great World War II films was LIFEBOAT, about the ordeal faced by survivors of a passenger ship that was sunk by a Nazi U-Boat in the middle of the Atlantic. The film details their struggle for survival in a small lifeboat, fighting the elements, thirst, and then fighting against each other.

Each person has their own ideas about how to navigate the little boat: they argue about who should be in charge; and they find little things to fight over even when they run out of things to fight over. Eventually they come to understand that their only hope is in putting aside their differences and working toward the common goal of survival. They learn that they cannot possibly get the boat to safety unless they all adopt that unifying goal.

In a sense the entire world is a LIFEBOAT, and we are all like the survivors in that film. We cannot solve the great problems which confront humanity--hunger, disease and war--unless we unite in a common effort to find meaningful remedies to these plagues.

It is also true in every other sphere of life, in the family and in the workplace. When people unite to achieve common goals, and are willing to give and take, and think of each other's needs...then there is no limit to the good things they can accomplish together. As Frank Purdue once said: "There's no limit to the quality you can build into a chicken".

Lifeboat is a fantastic flick. Perhaps Hitchcock's best.

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine
feel alone or forgotten.

O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is loving kindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Psalm 130:7 & 8

POWs: The Documented Cases of POWs Left Behind

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBXw0EXZr9Q

https://www.youtube.com/@CarterOnConflict

The actual story of Prisoners of War (POWs) left behind in previous wars is quite documented but became obscured by hoax POW pictures, small time scams, & other diversions. This is the story of those POWs left behind in Laos & Vietnam, drawn on facts from government published reports & official testimony from high-level figures such as former U.S. Defense Secretary & CIA Director James Schlesinger who testified under oath that POWs remained behind in 1973 at the end of the Vietnam War. For example, Colonel David Hrdlicka was shot down over Laos in 1965, & it was not known he was a POW until his pictures appeared as a POW in a Soviet newspaper. The Laos government never acknowledged his status & he remains behind to this day. The U.S. has a similar problem with our 1918 POWs, see my video POW/MIA

1,311 Comments below the video. Scroll through them.

“I met Melvin Laird( secy of defense 1969-1972) in a medical rehab facility in 2005. I spoke to him for an hour. One question i asked him was, do you believe American POWs are still in vietnam, alive. He said, yes. There are alot of pows still there.”

“This is a issue no closer to my heart I’m afraid most Americans connected to POW/MIA’s have been lied to from the start of this whole mess.”

“I worked in a nursing home in NYC back in the late nineties. There was a old man there that claimed he saw USA air force pows in 1985 in Hanoi. He was Cuban. He claims that 60 to 75 of these pows still there in the 80s. I asked him if he talked to them. He said he did a few times. But was afraid to report it to USA government after he got here.”

“My brother, an Air Force Colonel (ret) passed away in 2021. He was a pilot and flew 241 missions over Vietnam, may in the north. He thank God was not shot down. He spoke very little of his experiences in Vietnam. On one occasion he opened up and told me a little of some of the things he experienced. Six months before he passed away i asked him about John McCain and what he knew. He had friends that had been in prison in North Vietnam. He wrote me a scathing letter regarding John McCain and his lack of respect for this man. He was not alone.”

Howdy, luvie.

Have a good day?

It was a soggy one here with several rounds of brief heavy showers rolling through.

Hey there, radu!

It was good and hot. That’s how it was. It got up to 96 today. For the next 5 days we’re supposed to have rain, too, and temps in the 70s and 80s. 🙀 I am SO ready for the cool AND the rain.

Glad you had more rain, and I hope you didn’t have anything violent along with it. Any more floods there in TN?

Fingers crossed for luck that you get that rain and cooler temps! That’ll be a nice break for y’all.

No severe storms here but there were thunderstorms. They show on the Cowan cam like the one did yesterday. All three moved through quickly
They mentioned downed trees and flooding in the state on the 10:00 news tonight but didn’t say where. Glad it wasn’t here.
