Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday that Kyiv and Moscow's troops were still battling for the key eastern town of Kostyantynivka, which the Kremlin has claimed it has captured.
Moscow earlier this week announced it had taken the outpost -- on the way to important hubs in the Donetsk region -- but Kyiv has denied that as a "lie", saying that it is defending the town.
"Fighting is also continuing for Kostyantynivka, which (Russian leader Vladimir) Putin has already claimed as his own, but it is obvious that he will never dare to appear there," Zelensky said in his daily evening address.
Kostyantynivka had some 78,000 inhabitants before Russia invaded in 2022.
Zelensky also warned Russia was preparing new large-scale attacks ahead of this week's NATO summit in Turkey, where he is expected to hold talks with US President Donald Trump on the war.
"Intelligence once again has information the Russians are preparing a new massive strike," Zelensky said.
Earlier this week, Zelensky had issued a warning of an incoming Russian strike on Kyiv. Hours later Moscow struck the Ukrainian capital, killing 30 people.
Zelensky also said that Ukrainian strikes on Russia -- which have hit as far as the Urals in recent months -- were "every single day delivering results".
Kyiv's increased strikes on Russia -- especially targeting Russian oil and fuel depots -- have affected ordinary life in Russia.
"Pressure must be put on Russia so that there is peace," Zelensky said, adding that Kyiv has put forward its proposals and that it expects in the "coming months the conditions for a dignified peace will be brought closer either by force or by diplomacy".

The piles of rubles to make the piles of rubble will be almost as large.
It’s only like that because Ukraine has received about $200 billion of our money. Overall, they’ve received about $400 billion. All these European nations want us to do more but we’ve done more than all of them combined. A lot of what they’ve contributed is outdated equipment they wanted to get rid of.
The easy part is over for the EU.
Now this is the hard part. Germany used to have a powerful economy. But if they ever decide to get on a war footing, they can retool everything in their factories to manufacture munitions for Ukraine. But their environmentalists probably won't let them do that.
I don’t think the nation being invaded has lost track of why they are fighting off the invaders, as the years go by though, the replacement troops in the invading army may have lost track of why.
Rheinmetall still makes top tier cannon. Their other products are generally good. H&K is a leader in small arms. ThyssenKrupp makes more than elevators.

I wonder if all those muzzies Germany has taken in are willing to fight for their cause? LOL! They’re only there to fight for all the welfare.

I was thinking that America’s involvement in Vietnam may be somewhat analogous but our involvement in Vietnam was all about money. I believe Russia invaded Ukraine in order to destroy the Obozo’s bio weapons labs. They are way past that stage and the war rages and the Obozo, Biden and their criminal cabal are all still free.
Russia uses Islamic armed forces and they seem eager to fight for Putin.
South Vietnam was being invaded by the Communist North and Russian forces and Chinese forces were seeing combat there, South Korea was being invaded by the Communist North and Russian forces and Chinese forces were seeing combat there, Ukraine is being invaded by Russia, and the Communist North Korean troops are seeing combat there as Communist China trains Russian forces.
Konstantynivka was liberated yesterday.
