A female police officer in North Charleston, South Carolina, was attacked and beaten by a mob during an apparent teen takeover-style event at a July 4 block party on Saturday.
The North Charleston Police Department released a statement on the CRIMEWATCH platform, addressing the viral video of the incident in the Chicora-Cherokee community.
“A neighborhood block party had been permitted by the city of North Charleston in advance of the holiday,” they said. “Earlier that day, police leadership met with event organizers to discuss the event, including traffic and parking plans to ensure emergency vehicles could safely access the area if needed.”
At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers began receiving reports of gunfire and individuals firing fireworks toward passing vehicles. Officers responded immediately and were informed by attendees that several people had begun discharging firearms,” the statement continued.
During the response, “multiple firearms and a makeshift spear were recovered,” and two female officers were injured after being physically assaulted, the police said.
Video from the incident shows one female officer being thrown to the ground by two individuals as one throws punches at her head. A black woman is then seen smacking the officer with a stick as the violent struggle with a male suspect continues.
Two officers stepped in to pull the thugs away, with one deploying his taser before slamming his knee into the chest of a man who appeared to have the female officer in a headlock. At least two are seen being arrested.

Per the Carolina Courier,
North Charleston Police tell The Carolina Courier that multiple arrests in connection with the incident were made on site, with investigators working to identify additional suspects for interrogation and arrest.
According to law enforcement sources, both North Charleston and Charleston City made requests for mutual aid from neighboring jurisdictions during several incidents over the Independence Day holiday.
This type of behavior must be confronted, addressed, and condemned throughout our society if we hope to preserve it. There is a legal process for challenging an arrest – a civilized process. There is no justification in a modern, western, or human society for behavior like this serve as a constant backdrop in parts of the country.
Those responsible must be identified, arrested, prosecuted, and, if convicted, punished to the fullest extent of the law. Assaults on law enforcement officers are assaults on the rule of law itself, and that is something no civilized society can endure long-term.

This is a perfect example of why females shouldn’t be street level cops.
Over here a couple of years ago one almost got beat to death trying to arrest a male shoplifter at Walmart. Put her in the hospital for quite a while.
If a male detective hadn’t arrived as backup I doubt she woulda survived it.

Happens more that the press reports. In my LEO days we had several and they were worthless. Always calling for back-up with they got scared, but they were the first to smack people when the male officers had the perps subdued.

Law and order, lack of respect for the Police and even assaulting a Police officer should be enforced by VERY strict punishment.
That means putting these scum to hard labor, chain gangs, litter pick-up, cleaning up rivers, open spaces and highways.
Repeat offenders should be sent to Sing-sing for LONG jail sentences like in days of old.
Violent and extreme offenders should be hung.
Enough with this leniency, time to punish!
