Conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson intends to start a new political party after disavowing President Trump and the Republican Party over the Iran war.
“I’m going to help build a third party,” Carlson said in an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review published Wednesday. “There should be a good-faith effort to figure out what benefits the country.”

So what issues is this new party going to focus on?
He said something about how he wants to focus on the welfare of the American people. Does that mean he favors expanding government to somehow provide for the welfare of the American people?
But then is he still conservative, if he wants to grow government?
Or was he ever really conservative?
I don’t understand people who think it is only Israel that would benefit from Iran losing its nuke program.
The salaries of “middle America” won’t matter if we’re buried under a mushroom cloud.

Our system, combined with 150 years of federal and state laws designed by the beneficiaries of the two party system, would not allow a third party to flourish without a serious bloodletting of one of the other two parties. (Ballot Access alone is a huge issue) In Tucker’s case, probably the Republican Party. (When the Greens get going, the Democrats suffer, so it isn’t all one sided).
If you REALLY wanted to start a Third Party, you start with a regional party (like the PQ in Canada), but only in places where the Republicans are already powerless (Massachusetts and California). Then you could caucus with the Republicans, but be able to resist control plays (similar to Bernie Sanders in the old day, or Angus King from Maine).
Trump got it right (after flirting with Perot’s Independence Party). You have to get a majority of one of the parties. He has done it. And this has to be ongoing, outlasting Trump. The purge has to be continuous, with the knowledge that some will play along and will betray at the worst time (and you don’t always know who that someone will be).
Tucker really should know better. This will go nowhere.
There’s only so many people in the lunatic fringe Tucker. 😆
Call it the Chickenshit Party. You can guess what the symbol will be.
