The political deputy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy was killed in a car accident on Monday, according to reports by both pro- and anti-government sources.
Police forces and emergency teams arrived at the scene of the accident, and Akbarzadeh was evacuated to a medical center, where he succumbed to his severe injuries, according to Fars.
The reports stated that authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances and causes of the accident.
It was also noted that earlier this month, Akbarzadeh was among those sanctioned by the European Union for supporting measures that restrict freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz - measures that led to the recent post-ceasefire tit-for-tat strikes between the US and Iran.
IRGC members killed throughout Iran by Kurdish insurgency, connection unclear This comes after four members of Iran's IRGC were killed, and several others were wounded in what the IRGC described as "terrorist" shootings in western Iran on the same day as the crash.
Rojhelat.Info, an online resource that mostly covers Kurdish issues in Iran, noted that armed clashes were continuing throughout Iran between Kurdish insurgents and the IRGC.
It is currently unclear whether the car crash is related to the growing insurgency - that is, whether it was an accident or a targeted assassination.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was quoted in a meeting with the Grand Ayatollahs in the Iranian city of Qom on the day of the crash, saying, "the enemies think that by applying pressure and creating insecurity, they would create the conditions for internal instability and the collapse of the country, but the unity, solidarity, and conscious presence of the people disrupted all their calculations and their goals were not realized."

Trump was fearful of antagonizing the Turks. After the first two weeks of intensive bombing, the Iranian Kurds were willing to lead an armed rebellion against the mullahs. They would have been supported by Israeli air strikes and logistics. The urban Iranian suppressed protesters would have joined the fight. It was the best, now lost, opportunity to overthrow the mullah regime.
Trump and allies should set up a program where the Strait must remain open and the cost of ANY AND ALL damages inflicted upon shipping by Iran will be 100% covered by IRANIAN IMPOUNDED FUNDS. This would stiffen the spines of the shipping insurers and reinsurers. And IRANIANS UNDERSTAND MONEY, do not want to lose it and will punish (i.e., kill) those who cause the loss. And the ones causing the loss are the IRGC.
I’m posting this in every thread where the absence of such MONETARY DAMAGES ASSESSMENT is partially responsible for the situation. Current methods are NOT WORKING!
The Turks actually threatened to attack Israel and the USA if we supported the Kurds.
Ergodan needs to catch 7.62mm copper-jacketed lead poisoning.
Despite Israel’s and USA’s best efforts, the nattering class wrote off regime change as hopeless.
But GOD...
😭
>> Ergodan needs to catch 7.62mm copper-jacketed lead poisoning.
Agree. I’m not picky about what caliber is used.
Iran has two boats left. Some job.
Nor am I picky, provided it happens.
All in good time. This isn't the right time.
A 50 BMG could do the job.
That’s just greedy.
I didn’t want him to suffer (or survive).
Bkmk
Likely a motorcycle with a passenger-shooter pulled up next to him and shot him through the driver-side window. Then came the auto wreck.
“7.62mm copper-jacketed lead poisoning.”
That’s one of many ways to change his heart. .22 sub sonic at very close range is another. I’m not opposed to .50 BMG at a half mile either.
“Iran has two boats left. Some job.”
Maybe they didn’t want to pay his unemployment any more.
And another one bites the dust!! Hoo hoo hoo.
Car crash my rosy read a**. Same as the little gas line explosions they seem to be having. Or in Russia, people leaning out 9th story windows in a hotel and accidentally falling out. A whole lotta accidents these days.
