Tillis knocks Senate GOP colleague for ‘bulls—‘ on social media
The Hill ^ | 06/24/26 8:10 AM ET | by Alexander Bolton

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) didn’t mince any words Tuesday in calling out what he characterized as the “bulls—” arguments of fellow Republican Sen. Mike Lee (Utah) on social media, revealing the tensions within the Senate Republican Conference over how to push forward on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE America) Act.

Tillis said Lee’s push for Republicans to force Democrats to actively hold the floor in continuous debate to block the bill — in other words, to force Democrats to employ a talking filibuster — is “goofy.”

“I think it’s silly. All of it’s just goofy stuff,” he said. “It’s like a remake of a bad movie that just keeps on getting released.”

“At what point do you stop digging a hole?” the senator added.

Asked why Lee keeps pushing the talking filibuster as a strategy to pass the legislation, Tillis replied: “Naivete or a desire to get more likes on a social media post. Maybe both. I don’t know.”

“I never speak ill of members when they want to be professional and they want to engage in a productive way, but when you do some of the bulls— he’s done on social media, that’s why he gets these comments out here,” he told reporters, speaking in a hallway off the Senate floor.

Tillis vented his frustration with Lee for relentlessly making the case on social media and to President Trump that Senate Republicans can pass the SAVE America Act, which would require people to show documented proof of citizenship when registering to vote, even though they’re nowhere close to mustering 60 votes to overcome a Democratic filibuster.

Lee this week has called on his GOP colleagues to cancel parts of the July 4th and August recesses to spend more time debating the bill on the Senate floor.

Stick it, crybaby.

Vetoing legislation until the Congress starts working for the American people is just more BS, idn’t it, Tillis. Just utter MAGA type BS. It’s like blockading Iran until they start acting like a civilized country. Total BS to pander to the unwashed MAGA crowd, and we hate being pandered to by doing what we want done.

I’m sure Tillis speaks for a wide swath of GOP senators. The correct response would be to innovate and find a way to get legislation, and appointments passed, not surrender because, “that’s not the way we do things.“

Blocking everything while your campaign coffers fill up is nice work if you can get it.

Tillis is making sure he gets lobby money from the left as well as RINOs in NC.

If you can’t pass a bill that has 80% support then maybe it’s time to get another job

Tillis-loser. Dan Goldman-loser. Which one is funnier? I think it’s Goldman because we’re likely to lose the NC seat in November. Either way I’m laughing.

Both Republicans and Democrats understand that if voter ID is national law, and nationally enforced, the Democrats will never win another election. So it’s obvious why Democrats will oppose it, and high-level Repubs who oppose it stand exposed as the corrupted frauds they are.

Won’t it happen automatically as long as Congress is in session.

Tillis and his fellow RINOs are total garbage. When (not if) the Democrats take over the Senate from this gang of weaklings, they will ramrod every item on their wishlist into legislation. Thune and his useless crew can’t get the SAVE Act passed - legislation supported by over 70% of the voters. They sit there and dither over their little rules which appear nowhere in the Constitution - rules that will be gutted the moment Democrats take the Senate.

Tillis truly is a snake in the grass, this clown makes Wormtongue look honorable.

Remember Tillis and Masshole are cut from the same cloth, we are so much better with them booted!

I think they are trying to get Trump, Mike Lee and a couple others to give up on the save act so they can go back to disappointing their voters and talking a big game about their “conservatism.” They are much more comfortable being place holders until the democrats regain power and push the country farther left.

Thank heavens those of us in North Carolina will soon be rid of Tillis. Unfortunately, unless Whatley strongly revs up his campaign, we might get an even worse senator in Cooper.
