A federal judge ordered immigration officials to release the president of Wisconsin's largest mosque from detention Thursday, finding that Salah Sarsour has raised a "substantial" claim that he was being targeted for speaking out in favor of Palestinian rights.
Sarsour, a Palestinian-born legal permanent resident of the United States, was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on March 30. The government has claimed he is a foreign policy threat, but Sarsour's attorneys say he was actually targeted for speaking out against Israel.
U.S. District Judge James Patrick Hanlon wrote in a decision Thursday that attorneys for ICE and the Department of Homeland Security did not provide enough evidence to refute Sarsour's claims of retaliation for free speech, nor did they explain why Sarsour was suddenly considered a threat now after more than three decades of legal residency in the United States.
"The mere invocation of foreign relations concerns does not automatically trump First Amendment rights," wrote Hanlon, who was nominated by Trump in 2018. Hanlon ordered that Sarsour be released from the Indiana county jail where he was being held, and allowed to return to his Milwaukee home while his immigration case moves forward.

Those judges are part of the reason America is in deep, serious trouble.
Ignore this judge, too.
L
The judge supposed be non-biased? I mean, THATS why we are in court, no?
The judge saying that being in the US a long time makes a dangerous Islamicist non-dangerous is ridiculous. “Career criminals” and hidden WWII war criminals located in the 1950s and 60s were not Mr. Rogers types due to hiding out in the US. Same with organized crime bosses who finally went to prison after a long time of crime.
Free the imam and the judge in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.
Good idea.
LPRs cannot run for most elective offices, and they must apply for renewal their LPR status every ten years.
Unlike citizens (and naturalized citizens which have essesntially full rights), LPRs can be deported for specific reasons such as committing certain crimes and violating immigration laws.
Leftist judges will make any attempt to control Islamonazis impossible and make immigration enforcement die the death of a thousand stays and injunctions.
Trump should have had Chief Justice Roberts over for dinner and told him if SCOTUS doesn't enforce some discipline on the lower courts, he'll start telling them to pound sand.
God help you if you pray at the entrance to an abortion clinic, however.
Speaking out AGAINST Israel, with the intention of inciting rioting or civil unrest, is a de facto abuse of free speech. Now Israel is not above HONEST criticism, but what this speaker has limited himself to are outright lies, calumny and gaslighting, designed to inflame the emotions of the listener to acts of insurrection and physical attacks upon Jewish people in general, rabble-rousing and incitement to unlawful behavior.
As a “permanent resident” but not as a citizen, this visitor has far FEWER rights, and as a guest of the United States, is not extended the same rights to say or do just any blamed thing he wants.

From The New American write William Jasper:
“…An article by Chuck Ross at the Daily Caller features a photo of Linda Sarsour posing with Salah Sarsour, an accused financier of the Hamas terrorist group, at the recent 15th annual convention of the Muslim American Society and Isl amic Circle of North America. Although the two share the same surname, it is not confirmed that they are blood-related.
According to Ross, an FBI memo related to the terrorism-financing trial of the Holy Land Foundation, implicated Salah Sarsour and his brother Jamil in the criminal Hamas-funding scheme. “The FBI memo stated that the Sarsours passed mon ey in $1,000 and $2,000 increments to a Hamas operative named Adel Awadallah through their Milwaukee furniture store,” Ross writes. “Awadallah was a commander in the Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ militant wing.”
The Daily Caller story continues:
Salah Sarsour met Awadallah in 1995 while serving an eight month prison sentence in Israel for supporting Hamas.
Sarsour has not been charged with any crimes in the U.S. His brother Jamil was arrested and charged in 2003 with money laundering after returning back to the U.S. from Israel. He served a four year jail sentence for his work for Hamas.…”
Salah Sarsour, who is also a board member of American Muslims for Palestine, served as a bodyguard of sorts at the convention for Sumeyye Erdogan Bayraktar, the daughter of Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.—— Source : Chuck Ross
Why is the judiciary constantly usurping the authority of the immigration courts?
America may well be among the first in History to judicially sanction its own suicide...
nope, sorry.
Again a judge substituting their judgement for the elected President of the United States judgement.
Will be overturned.
